Ravi Kumar Dahiya

India’s ace wrestler Ravi Kumar Dahiya has stormed into the final match of the 57kg freestyle wrestling at the Tokyo Olympics. The Sonipat-born registered a win against Kazakhstan’s Nurislam Sanayev with a fall in the dying seconds of the game. After trailing behind with a scoreline of 2-9 at one stage, Dahiya came back strong to confirm the fourth medal for his nation at the Tokyo Summer Olympics.

The match didn’t start in favour of the Indian wrestler as he was the first one to concede a point. However, he gained a crucial one-point lead while scoring two points before the start of the second half. This gain was just momentary for Ravi as the Kazakh wrestler rushed to a seven-point lead with four turns in the position scoring eight crucial points.

Surprising all, Ravi Kumar Dahiya was able to produce a fairytale turnaround when he chipped back with a couple of push-out points. Later he gained more points to seize the match and book a berth against ROC’s Zavur Uguev in the final match. With this, Dahiya eyes the first gold medal for India at the ongoing Games.
