Satish Kumar has won his maiden Tokyo Olympics bout with ease. He rushed to an easy win over Jamaica’s Ricardo Brown in the Round of 16 match. Satish got off to a perfect start with a perfect 10 from all five judges. While the Jamaican tried to fight back, the Commonwealth Games bronze medalist stuck to his strengths to clinch an easy win by split decision, 4-1.

Satish started off with a bold move, using his strong right hand to attack rather than defend. However, his strategy paid dividends as he attracted the attention of all five judges to win the round. The second round saw multiple stoppages with the referee warning both the players. Satish played smart in the final round maintaining his distance as he sensed a win around the corner.

With the win, Satish has sealed his place in the quarterfinals and is only a win away from earning a podium finish. The ace pugilist has been in top form lately and is likely to reign supreme in his next game too. The Indian pugilist will be up against 2019 World Champion Bakhodir Jalolov of Uzbekistan on Sunday.

Women’s boxers Pooja Rani and Lovlina borgohain too have booked a place in the quarters and will be looking add another medal to India’s tally with a win. Amit Panghal on the other hand is yet to kick off his campaign. Pangal will be making his Olympic debut on Saturday against Martinez Rivas of Colombia,
