Tokyo Olympics 2020: Sweden’s Daniel Stahl bags gold in men’s discus throw, compatriot Simon Pettersson clinches silver

Reigning World Champion Daniel Stahl clinched the gold medal in the men’s discus throw at the Tokyo Games. Stahl produced a 68.90m throw to bag the pole position. His Swedish compatriot Simon Pettersson bagged the silver with Austria’s Lukas Weisshaidinger taking home the bronze medal.
It was surprising to see Kristjan Ceh miss out on a podium finish. Ceh boasts the season’s longest throw which stands at 70.35m. The Slovenian had achieved the milestone at the Kuortane ahead of the Olympics. But failed to emulate his heroics on the big stage as he produced a 66.37m throw in the final.

The discus throw final at the Tokyo Games was the 1000th Olympic final in athletics. And the “Swedish Viking” reigned supreme in the historic final.
Stahl’s supporters are in awe with his dash thatfollowing a win. His celebration first married on the international scene during the 2019 World Championships.
