Tokyo Olympics: PV Sindhu vs Tai Tzu-ying Prediction, preview and live stream

PV Sindhu vs Tai Tzu-ying
India’s PV Sindhu and Taiwan’s Tai Tzu-ying will cross swords in the all-important Women’s Singles Badminton semi-final in the Tokyo Olympics on Saturday, July 31. The match will take place at the Musashino Forest Sport Plaza BDM Court 1. While Sindhu is placed seventh in the BWF World Rankings, Tzu-ying is sitting at the top of the rankings.
PV Sindhu vs Tai Tzu-ying: Preview

PV Sindhu has looked unstoppable thus far in the Tokyo Olympics 2020. In the four games, she has played thus far, the 26-year-old is yet to drop even a single set. She decimated Ksenia Polikarpova from Israel, Cheung Ngan Yi from Hong Kong, and Mia Blichfeldt from Denmark to progress to the quarter-final.
In the quarterfinal, she was up against Japan’s Akena Yamaguchi and she won by 21-13, 22-20. In the second set, Yamaguchi gave Sindhu a run of her money. The match spanned 56 minutes and the Indian shuttler held on to her nerves. In the semis, she has to put her best foot forward.
Tzu-ying, on the other hand, went into her quarter-final game on the back of three wins. She had defeated Switzerland’s Sabrina Jacquet, Vietnam’s Nguyen Thuy Linh, and France’s Qi Xuefei. In the quarter-final, she had to hustle a tad against Thailand’s Ratchanok Intanon.
In fact, the game witnessed the first instance when she dropped a set in the Tokyo Olympics. She lost the opening set 14-21 but came back to win the next two sets by 21-18, 21-18. It goes without saying that Tzu-ying can’t afford to show any complacency in the semis as Sindhu is going great guns.
PV Sindhu vs Tai Tzu-ying: Head-to-Head

In their last six meetings, there’s absolutely nothing to separate the two shuttlers. Both players have won three matches each. In their last face-off during the World Tour Finals in January, Tzu-ying won by 19-21, 21-12, 21-17.
PV Sindhu vs Tai Tzu-ying: Prediction
Both the players are in impressive form and have performed decently against each other as well. In the semi-final, the one, who wins the opening set, should be able to win.
