Heading into the offseason, Aaron Rodgers‘ future is up in the air again after head coach Mike Tomlin left his position with the Pittsburgh Steelers. It was not as if the 42-year-old was not aware that he could be forced to retire if the team decided to move on with another quarterback.

However, based on the relationship he built with his now-former head coach, many who have been observing the Steelers felt Rodgers could come back for one more season.

After all, he knew spending more time with his teammates could help them unlock another level in their performance. However, after the embarrassing loss in the Wild Card round and Tomin’s exit, the California native’s future is back on the edge of a cliff.

Aaron’s got his own decisions he’s got to make… It’s hard to give up football too. It’s something that we’re really good at… To me, it’s, do you want to make the commitment year round… You’ve got to commit and be fully in.

As someone who has played into his 40s, Tom Brady knows that the physical aspect requires preparation in the offseason, and a good level of maintenance when the grind gets tough in the middle part of the season.

To get through it all, and still play at a high level, the commitment, which comes only when one is mentally focused on the task, one can complete the grind and come out with a favorable result. Brady believes Aaron Rodgers has to decide if he wants that.

When Tom Brady chose to continue playing, the decision did not sit well with then-wife Gisele Bundchen, who eventually separated from him, finalizing their divorce as the QB started what would be his final season in the NFL.

The 7-time Super Bowl winner believes the simple fact that Aaron Rodgers does not have a family to look after can be a major bonus for him, as Brady had to struggle with co-parenting his children.

Even though the Pittsburgh Steelers’ QB claimed he married this past offseason, Brady does not believe his family situation will be an obstacle if his former rival decides to return.

The New England Patriots legend believes Rodgers is also contemplating what he wants to do after football. Since it is difficult for them to leave the sport they love, those thoughts could confuse a player.

Aaron Rodgers’ future depends on who the next Steelers’ HC will be

If Aaron Rodgers felt that he was mentally focused to play at least another full NFL season and did not have the obstacles to overcome, there would still be one major factor that could decide his future. Steelers’ owner Art Rooney II reiterated that the quarterback’s future is up in the air, as the Super Bowl champion had joined his team to play under Mike Tomlin.

Since the latter has left his position, there are questions about whether Rodgers would want to return. The answer to that question might rest on whom the organization hires next.

Considering how demanding the California Golden Bears alum can be, it is imperative that the Steelers hire someone whose vision aligns with Rodgers’. Only then could the 10-time Pro Bowler decide to give it one last shot.

Since the Pittsburgh Steelers do not have several options in the quarterback market, it would bode well for the team if Aaron Rodgers continues with the team until they can find their next franchise signal-caller.
