Tom Brady might have won seven Super Bowls, but the competitor in him is still salty about not winning the other three games he played in. Two of those losses were at the hands of Eli Manning and the New York Giants. The third was against Nick Foles and the Philadelphia Eagles.

In all three instances, Brady and the New England Patriots were heavily favored to win. In 2007, he won his first league MVP award and helmed the 16-0 Patriots. They lost to the underdog Giants in a low-scoring game that dealt Brady the first Super Bowl loss of his career.

The second loss came in Super Bowl XLVI again at the hands of the Giants. That loss was part of an eight-season run where the Patriots were deemed good enough to win but came up short. Usually, those losses to underdog teams would hurt a player as competitive as Tom Brady.

However, it was neither of them, as it was the third Super Bowl LII loss to the Philadelphia Eagles that stings the most. The 47-year-old seemingly proved that when FOX cameras picked up Nick Foles sitting in the Eagles suites during the NFC Championship game. As soon as colleague Kevin Burkhardt started to joke about it, Brady said-

Nick, I don’t hate you, I’m just jealous of you. You caught it, I didn’t.

Tom Brady said

He tried to make it as if he was jealous that Nick Foles caught the famous ‘Philly Special’ pass to score a touchdown. Tom Brady tried the same a few plays earlier. However, his attempt at catching the ball did not go well as the ball bounced off his fingers.

Nick Foles joins Tom Brady as part of NFL folklore

Many consider Tom Brady as the greatest football player of all time. His seven Super Bowls with two different teams has earned him that monicker. Those feats are such that the only other two quarterbacks to beat him are also part of NFL folklore.

On one hand is Eli Manning, whose two wins over the GOAT defined his legacy. On the other hand, Foles winning Super Bowl LII as a backup and on an underdog team make it that much more special. Had the Eagles not won it, many would not have remembered Foles’ name.

As a career backup playing on almost one/fifth of the teams in the league, the most he would have had was tales to tell his own children. But Nick Foles won’t need to do that as he helped his Philadelphia Eagles win their first and only Super Bowl to date.

Brady was covering the Eagles winning the NFC Championship game to earn a chance to add on to that tally. But the first win is the one fans will most fondly remember. For that reason alone, Nick Foles will always be a part of NFL folklore.
