The WNBA is packed with players who have been elite throughout their basketball careers. The competitiveness has ensured that only the best is able to hold down a job. But among that lot, A’ja Wilson is playing lights out basketball. Yesterday the Las Vegas Aces star broke a long-standing award that came to the attention of LeBron James and Tom Brady.
With her 27-point outing yesterday against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever, Wilson set a new record for most points in a WNBA season. Seeing this unfold, NBA and fellow Team USA superstar LeBron James took to his official X account to send out this message:

This was a pure appreciation of what he has seen transpire from the Aces star over the season. Coming from someone who is held as the standard in the NBA, Wilson’s accomplishment deserves such praise.
Last season A’ja Wilson lost the chance to win her third straight WNBA MVP award due to one vote. She made up for it by winning her second back-to-back title and Finals MVP. But losing that regular season award seems to have ignited a spark in the Las Vegas Aces leader.
Right off the bat, the 28-year-old started playing at an unbelievably high level which has led to a never-before-seen points per game average of 27.3. On the back of that average PPG, she is now standing at 956 points with still four games to go. She might end up being the first player to eclipse 1000 points in a WNBA season.

Tom Brady is no stranger to greatness. Winning 7 Super Bowls, he is widely regarded as the NFL’s GOAT. So, when he sees greatness happening in other sports, he did not stop himself from giving them their flowers.

Brady acknowledged the dominating high-level play A’ja Wilson has put up in this WNBA season, as it is not easy for a player who leads her team in defense to set a new record for scoring.
Her MVP candidacy has seen no opposition as she has brought along her defense and rebounding to go along with her scoring. She is currently second in rebounding behind rookie Angel Reese and clears everyone in the blocks per game list.
If the 2-time MVP can record at least 10 rebounds in each of her last 4 games, she will overtake Reese to set a new single season rebounding record.
But even if she does not, there is no one who can stop her from winning the MVP as well as Defensive Player of the Year awards. Win another title this season, and many could call her the GOAT, even though her career has some way to go before she hangs up her sneakers.
