Indiana is among the handful of places where Tom Brady will never get a hero’s welcome. The NFL quarterback tormented the Colts while playing for the New England Patriots.

On Sunday, Brady attended the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to take part in the Indy 500 as a FOX representative alongside former Giants player Michael Strahan. Although Strahan opted for casual attire to watch the race, Brady was fully suited up.

The 47-year-old wore customized racing gear with the FOX Sports logo on his chest. Brady, Strahan, and NASCAR legend Jimmie Johnson walked on the tarmac before the race but didn’t receive the reception they were hoping for. Strahan thoroughly enjoyed the moment.

A stream of boos came down from the bleachers. The trio stayed calm and walked away after thanking the crowd.

Tom Brady dissed the Colts’ fans before the race

Before taking the podium, Brady and Johnson spoke with FOX veteran reporter Jamie Little about their experience at the Indy 500. Johnson was scheduled to chaperone Brady around the circuit. Brady joked that when he found out that Jimmie Johnson would give him a ride, he thought it was the famous NFL head coach.

When they said Jimmie Johnson’s driving me around the track, I thought it was coach Jimmie Johnson [Super Bowl-winning Cowboys coach]… I thought he would be going 50 miles an hour—he’s gonna be driving a 150 and 190 mph, so I am a little worked up but I am in great hands [because Johnson] is the best in the world [so I think] I would be pretty comfortable back in the cockpit.

Johnson teased that he would drive fast to see Brady “crash” the cart to get the complete experience of the race, and “one would be to get sick in the car and the other would be to soil his suit.”

Brady followed it up with a joke directed at the audience, primarily composed of the local Colts’ fans.

I’m sure a lot of Indianapolis Colts fans would like to see me crash at some point today.

After digesting the boos from the Colts’ fans, Brady got into a car and zoomed around the course. The snake pit crew tried their best to speak with him while he drove, but the screeching noise from the tires made communication difficult.

Alex Palou won the 109th edition of the Indy 500. It was the driver from Chip Ganassi Racing’s first win at the Oval.

Later, Tom Brady shared a heartfelt message with the Indy 500 organizers and broadcaster FOX for inviting him to the race.

What an incredible experience at Indianapolis Motor Speedway this weekend. Thanks to the FOX Sports family for putting on an incredible show, and to my friend, the best driver in the world and 7x champion Jimmie Johnson, for letting me tag along as we led out the pack. I’ll be back, and next time I’m driving!!! PS: It was great to get in one more successful drive in front of a bunch of Colts fans.
