Tom Brady never wanted to leave football. He just loves the game too much, which is why he pounced upon the opportunities FOX Sports and the Las Vegas Raiders offered him.
Before last season started, he faced concerns from other owners about his ability to keep his integrity when juggling his role as a minority owner in a franchise, as well as his job analyzing all teams that he has to cover.
Their concerns seemed to vanish after the league interfered and Brady agreed to be fair with other teams. Fast-forward to this season, and those concerns have come back, this time in full force.
His appearance in the coaches’ booth at the Raiders’ game against their divisional rivals, the Los Angeles Chargers, became a controversial point as rival networks and owners questioned whether he was allowed to do that.
Even though the NFL cleared him of breaching any rules, the rumblings around the league continued to direct criticisms at the 7-time Super Bowl winner. Now, the 48-year-old has come up with an answer.
I love football. At its core it is a game of principles. And with all the success it has given me, I feel I have a moral and ethical duty to the sport; which is why the point where my roles in it intersect is not actually a point of conflict, despite what the paranoid and distrustful might believe. Rather, it’s the place from which my ethical duty emerges: to grow, evolve, and improve the game that has given me everything.
Tom Brady wrote in his newsletter
The father of three was essentially clapping back at those critics, claiming he has kept his ethics in check, and they need not be paranoid about him especially in the midst of all the distrust in the league.
Tom Brady reveals his greater duty
Tom Brady believes the recent criticisms have come from those who were petty about his dual roles. He believes he is doing his greater duty, that is, to help everyone get a taste of excellence.

If I can bring my knowledge and experience to bear inside the Raiders organization to ensure there’s one more team that does things the right way; and then I can apply it in the booth so millions of people know and enjoy what the right way looks like—then I will have lived up to the expectations I have for myself, and I will have done so in service of a much greater duty.

Brady believes he is doing both the Raiders and the fans tuning in a service by bringing to the table what made him arguably the greatest quarterback ever. He wants the fans to enjoy the best football the NFL can deliver.
If he can help the Raiders achieve that, he can also speak that into existence for the rest of the league and allow fans to see it from the FOX broadcasting booth.
Tom Brady to next cover Eagles vs Buccaneers
After using his newsletter to clap back at his critics, Tom Brady will now travel to Florida to cover the last team he played for and won his 7th ring, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
He knows it will be a game considering how Baker Mayfield and his teammates have used their late-game efficiency to string three straight wins. At the same time, they will face the defending Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles.
The latter’s offense just went through a revival in their last game, and will test the Bucs’ defense on Sunday. At the same time, it will be a feast to watch what Mayfield does against the two big boys from Georgia anchoring the Eagles’ defensive.
Brady will be able to prove his integrity and ethics as he calls his former team against the one team that famously stopped him from winning his 8th Super Bowl ring.
