The Las Vegas Raiders have undergone a significant revamp since the inclusion of Tom Brady into the team’s ownership brass. The team let go of Antonio Pierce and brought in a Super Bowl-winning head coach in Pete Carroll. Then came the addition of Chip Kelly as the new offensive coordinator, and the subsequent trade for quarterback Geno Smith.

The new-look Raiders have strengthened their offense this season. The addition of Smith will help Brock Bowers to maximize his production, and Ashton Jeanty is a potential superstar coming off an incredible NCAA season. The credit for these changes goes to the ownership, and it seems like Mark Davis implements all of Brady’s suggestions.

Davis has consistently lauded Brady for his role as a part-owner. The seven-time Super Bowl winner’s opinion counts for a lot, but he prefers to keep the extent of his involvement in the decision-making process within the Raiders building.

Well, I’m just a limited partner, so Mark’s the boss, and then Pete does his job and Spy (John Spytek) does his job and, I think, we trust them to make the right decisions. I’m there as a great sounding board for anything they want to do.

Brady told the media when asked about his role in the day-to-day operations of the team. He prefers to take a humble approach, taking a page out of Bill Belichick’s book and crediting the front office and coaching for doing their job.

Tom Brady played a role in picking Geno Smith as the Raiders’ QB

The Raiders picked Ashton Jeanty in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft despite rumors of interest in Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Brady denied having any role to play in the team’s draft choices.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion played a role in picking Geno Smith as the Raiders’ quarterback. The front office was considering between Smith, Sam Darnold, and Russell Wilson. Out of these three, Wilson seemed to be the frontrunner because he won his championship with Pete Carroll as his head coach.

However, the Giants swooped in and signed Wilson to a one-year deal, which limited the Raiders’ options. As per The Athletic, Brady advised against signing Darnold, and since the coaching staff was not open to drafting and developing a quarterback at this stage, the team went on to sign Smith.

His approach is Zen. Brady is attempting to stray away from being the center of the media attention to allow the staff to do their job and be credited for the same.

I’ve loved it and again, just trying to contribute in the ways that I can to help the team be the best they can be, on and off the field. We’ve got a great group of people. I love Mark. He’s done an incredible job getting the team to Vegas, getting the stadium built.

The quarterback described his first season as a part-owner of an NFL franchise. Despite his optimistic description, last season was nothing short of a nightmare for the Raiders. The team won just four games, a shocking decline for a team that seemed to have found the right HC in Pierce. It has been a while since the Raiders were last in the playoffs, and the team has managed to build a talented offensive roster along with a competent defense this season. The Raiders will be a team to keep a close eye on this season.
