They have been foes on the field, fighting toe-to-toe in the hard-fought AFC. But, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has an unlikely rooter this season in his former foe, Tom Brady.

Patrick Mahomes was on the cusp of leapfrogging Tom Brady as one of the greatest quarterbacks in the league’s history before the Philadelphia Eagles quashed their dreams at the Caesars Superdome almost five months ago. The Super Bowl LIX win would have meant that Mahomes would be the first quarterback in history to win three back-to-back titles.

However, the night exposed Mahomes and the Chiefs’ offense. They had been riding on their defensive unit under Steve Spagnuolo the whole 2024-25 season, and the moment they faltered, so did the Chiefs. Mahomes had one of the worst nights, with Cooper DeJean scoring his first-ever touchdown with a pick-six off Mahomes.

The night has been a big cauldron of motivation for Patrick Mahomes ever since. As he heads into a new season, hoping to avenge the loss and win his fourth ring, Brady has been a huge part of the process. Earlier, Mahomes admitted that he has been getting lessons and advice from Brady.

Brady, who opened the new outlet of his store Cardvault in Chicago, heaped praises on Mahomes while looking for cards at the National Sports Card Convention along with his business partner Chris Costa. Brady’s comments came after he snapped up a Downtown Mahomes card at one of the stalls.

Another Downtown, Patty Mahomes. This guy is legit, and he is an unbelievable player. Love watching him play.

The praise from Brady isn’t light. The former Pats and Tampa Bay Buccaneers star has seven rings, the most by any signal caller in the league. Coming from him, it is indeed quite a huge thing.

Tom Brady and Chris Costa go stall-hopping at the National Sports Card Convention

Tom Brady and Chris Costa, on their stall-hopping at the National Sports Card Convention in Chicago two weeks ago, picked up several cards and shared glowing reviews on some others. He also got himself a Dirk Nowitzki card and picked up a Cooper Flagg card for his son, Jack Brady.

In the Quicksign stall, Costa and Brady picked up Mahomes, Nowitzki, and a few others. Costa got himself a Peyton Manning card, which Brady took no offense at. He even said that Manning had inspired him throughout his career. They also stumbled upon a Brady, Manning, and Brett Favre deck as well as an Ed Reed one.

Brady claimed that Ed Reed was one of his nemeses and shared a quick anecdote from his career playing against Reed. Drake Maye and Jayden Daniels were two of the rookies they found. While Brady gave a glowing review of Daniels, he said that he hoped Maye would have some better numbers to showcase.

Costa, accompanied by Brady, also visited the stall set up by one of the former’s friends at the convention, John Ryan. Brady and Costa picked up the Flagg card as well as several other MLB cards. These included Derek Jeter, whom Brady described as one of his favorite players on and off the field. Brady also stopped at one point and talked with Chicago Cubs center Pete Armstrong.

Armstrong discussed the physical acumen of Brady and his fitness while receiving Brady’s advice on motivation and drive.

Meanwhile, The CardVault by Tom Brady also announced a potential new location in SoHo. The hobby store currently operates online as well as through physical stores. They are up and running in five locations, excluding the new Chicago store: Patriot Place (Foxborough), Foxwoods, Boston, American Dream (East Rutherford, New Jersey), and East Hampton hosts the other locations.
