Daniel Jones can’t catch a break. The New York Giants quarterback is now getting stray jabs from Tom Brady.
The seven-time Super Bowl winner hung up his boots in 2023 and is currently preparing for his life in broadcasting as he signed a 10-year deal with FOX Sports to join their team of analysts. He had a couple of practice runs before making his NFL debut in Cleveland.
While discussing on ‘Fanatics Fest’ on Friday his infant experience in the broadcasting genre, Tom Brady revealed one key factor is remaining calm at all times and refraining from calling a player ‘horrible.’ The former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers #1 QB admitted that it’s tough to impose judgment based on initial view, so he doesn’t wish to be too critical of the players.
To better prove his point, Brady gave a short example that drew much buzz from the crowd.
Let's say Daniel Jones [Giants quarterback] throws an interception.Tom Brady said
The reaction from the crowd, especially from host Stephen A. Smith, hearing Daniel Jones’ name, made Brady defensive.
I wasn't even being critical of Daniel Jones. [Well] maybe I was a little bit.Tom Brady added

Why did Tom Brady pick Daniel Jones while explaining quarterbacks who throw a lot of interceptions?
TB12 had countless numbers of quarterbacks to choose from, and yet he zoned in on the Giants quarterback. There isn’t exactly any animosity between them unless Brady is still salty because he lost two Super Bowls to the Giants when Eli Manning was their quarterback.

It’s one of the rare blemishes in the 47-year-old’s otherwise stellar football career. Manning never forgets to remind him that he was the only player to beat him twice in football’s biggest game.
However, there is merit in singling out Daniel Jones, who is going through a slump. The Duke graduate has a career record of 22-36-1 with 62 touchdowns and 40 interceptions since the Giants named him their starter. In 2023, he played in 6 games and lost 5, throwing 6 picks in the process.
Jones missed the rest of the campaign due to a torn Achilles. If he had played the full season, crossing his rookie year’s 12 selections may have been a real possibility.
Almost 9 months later, he is back training with the Giants and on the cusp of regaining his starting quarterback job. It’s unsure whether Tom Brady will call any of his games because the full FOX schedule remains pending, but if he did, then the multiple-time NFL MVP would tackle it by limiting provocation.
I just don't want to be so critical, because in some ways I don't necessarily know exactly what the problem was on that play.Tom Brady said

Besides waiting for the broadcasting debut, Brady created a YouTube channel to upload daily vlogs. He also attended Michael Rubin’s Fanatics Fest with former teammate Rob Gronkowski.
