Football fans get an idea that the NFL offseason is in full swing when they hear news about teams looking at quarterbacks. This offseason, Tom Brady and his Las Vegas Raiders are searching for the next signal caller with a plethora of options such as Sam Darnold and Matthew Stafford available.

Rumors indicated that the FOX Sports analyst even went as far as trying to recruit Stafford on a ski resort. Even if that was true, it did not materialize as the 37-year-old QB decided to stay put with the Los Angeles Rams.

Now the focus shifts on other quarterbacks as the Raiders desperately need one next season. Neither of their two options worked out last time around. On top of that, they pick at No. 6 in this year’s NFL Draft. That might not be an optimum solution knowing there are similarly QB hungry teams ahead of them.

With Matthew Stafford remaining with the Rams, the Las Vegas Raiders now are expected to investigate veteran quarterback options that include Russell Wilson, Justin Fields and Sam Darnold, per sources.

Adam Schefter wrote

This was ESPN’s NFL Insider Adam Schefter using his sources to understand who the Las Vegas Raiders are looking at next. Sam Darnold is expected to attract a lot of attention. Teams are probably willing to hand him a monster deal after the terrific season he had last year.

Sam Darnold, though, might prefer to go somewhere which suits his playing style. Not that the Raiders do not have that problem after signing Chip Kelly to a league leading contract. But even though they might have started conversations with Darnold’s camp, they are not taking their chances.

When Pete Carroll was hired, the first reaction everyone has was that he would look to trade for his former pupil, Russell Wilson. But then, those discussions slowed down after videos showed Wilson training with the Pittsburgh Steelers staff in a bid to stay with the franchise.

Then recently, another video came out where Carroll was speaking with his former colleague John Schneider. That video sparked rumors of the Raiders probably looking at trading for Geno Smith. It is unknown how far those talks have gone, as Schefter did not mention it.

But he did mention again about Russell Wilson as well as his teammate with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Justin Fields. The Las Vegas Raiders are looking at all possible options ahead of the NFL draft. So far, their interest seems to be biased towards veterans who can hold the fort down.
