The Las Vegas Raiders have fired Antonio Pierce after one full season as their head coach. That means, Mark Davis will now start his search for the next coach who can lead his team back to success. That also means there is a chance that Tom Brady will be involved.

The NFL’s GOAT bought a minority stake in the franchise after the rest of the owners approved his interest. Since then, there have been rumblings that Davis would lean on the 47-year-old for advice on personnel matters.

Earlier it was expected that he would only have to give inputs on their next franchise quarterback. However, Mark Davis fired Antonio Pierce earlier after a dismal 4-13 season. Pierce was the players choice last season, but could not rally them to play better in this campaign.

This has brought the focus back on their search for their next head coach. With candidates of varying experiences lining up for interviews elsewhere, the franchise will have to move quickly. ESPN’s Adam Schefter received information on how they plan to proceed.

Raiders limited owner Tom Brady is expected to be part of a collaborative committee to interview head coaching candidates and support team owner Mark Davis, per league sources.

Tom Brady along with his experience spanning 23 seasons will be a part of that committee that decides on their next head coach. The seven-time Super Bowl winner has played under two different head coaches and has seen a lot of coordinators during his playing days.

Mark Davis set to spend millions on coach’s next season

Mark Davis will need the inputs of Tom Brady if he has to avoid getting into this head coaches mess again. Pierce was his third full time head coach over the past four seasons. Now he is on the search for a fourth that he hopes will stay for the long term.

However, that does not absolve him of the financial burden he has incurred from all these changes. The first head coach in the Las Vegas Raiders tenure was Jon Gruden, who is owed $10 million next season as part of his settlement. Along with him is former HC Josh McDaniels who will receive $10 million.

Antonio Pierce had clarified that he was under contract. With specific details not available, it is safe to assume that he could be under contract at least for next season. That means he should be owed at least $5 million in 2025.

The next head coach the Raiders will hire, who could command more than $10 million depending on his pedigree. All in all, Mark Davis will shell out around $35 million or more next season on coaches. A lot of money considering his team has not won a playoff game since moving to Las Vegas.
