Covering a potential Super Bowl showdown between Josh Allen’s Buffalo Bills and Jalen Hurts’ Philadelphia Eagles called for someone who had experienced the intensity of similar high-stakes games during their playing days. Fox Sports had just the right employee for the job, and that was Tom Brady.
Brady’s achievements define his legacy as a football player. He won seven Super Bowls with the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a career that spanned over 23 seasons.
To achieve this milestone, Brady faced the Bills twice each year during his tenure with the Patriots, as both teams compete in the AFC East. According to StatMuse, Brady won 33 and lost just 3 games in 36 appearances against the Bills. He threw 9032 yards and 72 touchdowns in this fixture.
If there’s one athlete whom the Bills Mafia rejoiced seeing leave the division, it was Brady. The 48-year-old returned to Orchard Park on Sunday to cover the Bills’ week 17 game against the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Eagles.
Longtime FOX broadcaster Kevin Burkhardt asked Brady whether the Bills fans had given him a warm welcome.
[I got] a warm embrace [from Bills fans]. A lot of people were kinda [giving me] that one-finger salute they were giving me as I looked down from the press conferences. [That] reminded me how much they enjoyed me coming to town, I guess.
Tom Brady smiled
Burkhardt retorted,“They are saying you are number one!”

The Bills failed to break down the Eagles in Tom Brady’s presence
The Bills took over as the dominant force in the East after Brady left for sunny Tampa. Allen led the Buffalo franchise to five straight division titles and had been in the hunt for a sixth despite a couple of lackluster performances.

Beating the Eagles could have kept the race alive until the final week of the regular season. However, the Eagles came out on top by scoring just 13 points in four quarters.
It came down to a second last play of the night. Right after scoring his second rushing touchdown, Allen and the Bills went for a two-point try instead of kicking for an extra point. However, the reigning league MVP failed to connect with any Bills receiver and lost 13-12.
The defeat ended the Bills’ pursuit of a conference title. Ironically, they conceded their AFC East crown to the Patriots, who blew out the Jets in New York.
Not bad, kid 👏

The @Patriots are once again Champions of the AFC East for the first time since 2019! pic.twitter.com/CkujUpNZSd
It was the Patriots’ first East title since Brady’s Patriots won it in 2019. Drake Maye threw five touchdowns and completed 90% of his passes. Maye’s got a long way to go before being compared to his predecessor. He can start by winning the franchise’s seventh ring.
Josh Allen reacted to his two-point fumble
The safe option for the Bills was to kick an extra PAT and force overtime. They went for the daring option and failed. At the post-game press conference, Allen took the blame for the incomplete pass.
I just missed. Rolling left, I’ve got to get him a better ball. It just comes down to us executing, making one more play than they did. And obviously you saw that we didn’t make that last play… I didn’t make that last play.

They had already qualified for the playoffs last week. The loss pushed Buffalo down to the AFC’s seventh seed, while the Eagles hold the third seed in the NFC.
