“Tom Brady was not happy about it” Dana White reveals why the Raiders deal fell apart
Rob Gronkowski, Dana White, and Tom Brady
UFC 278 was very interesting for the viewers, not only because of the fight but also because many secrets were revealed on the show. Dana White president of the UFC stated that he was working on a deal to bring Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski to the Las Vegas Raiders prior to the 2020 season.
The deal was in motion and about to happen but Jon Gruden decided not to do it at the last minute. “I didn’t want to talk about that, no, but [Gronkowski] sort of sucked me into it on live TV,” White told reporters.
“Yeah, it’s true. I talked Brady into playing for the Raiders, and Gronk was coming with him. And they were negotiating the deal and they were really close to getting it done and then Gruden pulled the deal.”
Jon Gruden thought that Brady was way past his prime and his ability would only deteriorate from there but Tom Brady proved everyone wrong by winning another Super Bowl.
White also stated that the Bucs QB “was not happy about it” when he found out that the deal wasn’t coming through. Dana White later regretted telling the story and stated “Crazy. But yeah, it’s true and I thought I’d never tell that story publicly. But, what the hell Gronk was doing, I hate that he brought that up, but yeah.”
“One of the teams, they weren’t interested at the very end”: Tom Brady on the HBO show ‘The Shop’
Tom Brady was not happy about the trade not happening and maybe he indicated his frustration on the HBO show ‘the Shop’ where he had a special appearance.
“One of the teams, they weren’t interested at the very end. I was thinking, ‘You’re sticking with that mother [bleeper]?'” Brady said during a 2021 appearance on HBO’s “The Shop,” prompting football fans to speculate who scorned the future Hall of Famer.
Many people speculate that the person Tom Brady is talking about is the Raiders, QB Derek Carr. Though Derek Carr is a quality QB and is only one of the four QBs in the NFL to have more than 4,000-yard throws.
UFC 278 was an interesting watch for the NFL fans who’ve got things to speculate on until the season starts. Though we don’t know for sure how close was the deal to happening we can only assume that it’s true.
