When Tom Brady finally received the approval from NFL owners to become a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, there were a lot of concerns regarding his dual role as a Fox Sports analyst as well. However, a recent statement from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell showed just how committed the NFL legend is to maintaining excellence in both positions.

Since his retirement in 2023, Brady has maintained an active presence in the football community. And just as dedicated to football, which earned him the title of Greatest of All Time, he is equally committed to his new responsibilities as a Fox Sports analyst and Raiders owner. As Goodell revealed Brady frequently checks in with him to ensure that he balances both his roles effectively and does not result in any conflict of interest.

Tom has been incredibly cooperative. He calls frequently about it and says, ‘Am I doing ok?’ And I think he’s serious about making sure that he separates these two and he doesn’t put the league or anyone in a position of conflict.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion embodies hard work, consistency, and humility and these qualities have reinforced his status as a role model both on and off the field. That’s why, Goodell’s revelation about Brady is hardly unexpected, especially when he and the NFL owners had the chance to vote against his minority ownership last year in October. Still, they gave him the go-ahead along with the “special rules” he shall abide by.

Ryan Fitzpatrick reacts to NFL’s defense of Tom Brady’s dual roles

Interestingly, not everyone seems to be convinced by the explanation of the conflict of interest with Brady’s dual roles as the NFL Commissioner. Former NFL quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick retweeted Pro Football Network’s tweet with a skeptical caption.

“I feel like we’ve heard this before,” wrote Fitzpatrick.

Unfortunately, it remains a question which incident the former Buffalo Bills legend was referring to but fans are convinced it was toward the infamous Deflategate scandal. It erupted in the 2014 AFC Championship game between the New England Patriots and the Indianapolis Colts, where Brady was accused of ordering to deliberately deflect footballs that even resulted in his suspension.

A report by ESPN later revealed that the NFL was “generally aware” of those football deflections after it was confirmed that the incident was “more probable than not” to have occurred.
