Washington Capitals star Tom Wilson once again came under the spotlight for his antics. On Tuesday, in the game against the Carolina Hurricanes, the forward hilariously stole the mouthguard of Sebastian Aho during a brawl.
In the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs, Wilson stole the headlines for his actions on the ice. He got into huge brawls, mocked the Montreal Canadiens crowd, delivered a game-changing hit, and took a ‘cheap’ dig at his opponents.
On Tuesday, May 6, he once again did something that went viral on social media and left the people stunned. With the two teams tied at 1-1 in the third period, Wilson likely tried to provoke some action from Aho, which would result in a penalty.
However, the Hurricanes star was having none of it. After he refused to throw down the gloves and mess with him, Wilson would go on and take away the mouthguard away from Aho.
The alternate captain of the Canes would later complain about this to the officials on the ice. Wilson was then forced to give the mouthguard back. In a video that has gone viral on social media, the Caps star could be seen handing back the gear to an official and skating away from the scene. The official would then hand over that piece to Aho.

Tom Wilson and Capitals suffer OT loss against Canes in Game 1
Game 1 between the Washington Capitals and the Carolina Hurricanes was a tight affair that went into overtime. In this period, the Canes stuck down Tom Wilson and his teammates and took a 1-0 series lead.

It was the Capitals who opened the scoring in the second period. Aliaksei Protas got things underway for his team with a powerful wrist shot.
The Canes came back and leveled the game in the third period. Logan Stankoven took advantage of a puck turnover by the Capitals. The 22-year-old’s snapshot from close range found the back of the net and brought his team on level terms.
Jaccob Slavin turned out to be the overtime hero for the Carolina Hurricanes as his slap shot somehow managed to squeeze in. His goal came just 3 minutes and 6 seconds into the OT period.

Tom Wilson admits Capitals were ‘little bit off’ in Game 1 against the Canes
Following a crushing loss in Game 1 against the Carolina Hurricanes, Tom Wilson admitted that his team was a “little bit off” from their best. The Metropolitan Division champions had less possession, fewer shots on goal, and less hits than their opponents.

While speaking to the reporters after the game, Wilson expressed that his team needs to execute a bit better to generate some more chances.
We were just a little bit off the whole night. We had a couple really good looks, couple bars, couple chances, we’re getting in behind their D. So a little bit of execution, I think, can help us generate a little bit more control and help us put those pucks in the back of the net.
Tom Wilson told the reporters
“I don’t think anyone expected the Playoffs just to be a straight line of ups. There’s going to be ups and downs. The next game’s the biggest game.”
