World No. 1 Iga Swiatek recently announced her separation from coach Tomasz Wiktorowski, with whom she enjoyed three successful years of partnership. This announcement sent shockwaves in the tennis fraternity as many speculated different reasons for the fallout between the Polish ace and her coach. Rumors spread like wildlife fire.
While Swiatek has not said anything ever since the announcement, Wiktorowski has come forward to quash all the rumors. He has made it clear that there was nothing fishy about his losing his job as the head coach of the WTA World No. 1. The Polish coach said that the statement from Swiatek clearly mentioned the reason behind them parting ways.
There have been a lot of speculations and insinuations… Definitely too much, considering that the message that was issued very precisely defines our decision. It is enough to read it with understanding, not with the intention of looking for sensation. Our end of cooperation was done with respect for both parties and no fake news will change that.
Tomas Wiktorwoski said (H/T: Onet)
Wiktorowski 43, joined Swiatek’s team as coach in 2022 when she had one Grand Slam success to her name. The Pole helped Swiatek to four further Grand Slam titles, including three successive French Opens. She became the first Polish player to reach world number one in April 2022 and has spent a total of 123 weeks at the top of the rankings.
Swiatek did thank Wiktorowski for his role in all her achievements. However, her struggles on the hard court might have played a role in the 23-year-old seeking a different perspective.
Tomasz Wiktorowski denies Iga Swiatek’s psychologist’s role in him losing his job
Iga Swiatek has been known to work with a psychologist and seek help at crucial junctures. This led to speculations about Swiatek’s psychologist’s role in getting Tomasz Wiktorowski fired. However, The Pole’s ex-coach has denied all such claims saying the team always worked in tandem.

I think that in general we had a very good relationship in the team. During three years of intensive cooperation, it is impossible to avoid difficult situations, but even then, we always found a way to reach an agreement and get back on track. Iga and everything related to the preparation of a player at the highest level have always been a priority for us.
Tomasz Wiktorowski said
The 43-year-old then admitted that this decision was reached after careful consideration and that he needed to make way for someone else.
It was simply a necessity. We have never made sudden and, above all, ill-considered decisions.
Tomasz Wiktorowski added
While Swiatek enjoyed great success on clay while working with Wiktorowski, the Pole failed to translate those performances to hard courts. This year, she failed to reach the semifinals at both hard court Grand Slam tournaments. In fact, Swiatek has only one semifinal appearance at the Australian Open and has won one US Open title so far.
After parting ways with Wiktorowski, the 23-year-old is training under the supervision of temporary coach Dawid Celt and her sparring partner Tomasz Moczek. Swiatek is currently preparing for the WTA Finals, where she will be defending her crown.
