There has been a lot of descension between the members of DIY in the past few weeks. Tommaso Ciampa is seeing red and wants nothing more than to win their tag titles back. However, he has constantly accused Johnny Gargano of not being on his A-game, and getting too soft with the Motor City Machine Guns.
In a backstage segment on the latest episode of SmackDown, Ciampa showed a lot of aggression and passion while talking to his tag team partner. He asked Gargano if he would like his family and son, Quill, to think of him as a loser. Furthermore, he accused him of having a soft spot for Alex Shelley and not being able to focus because of it.
Tommaso Ciampa said that he did not care if Shelley was his mentor at a young age. The way he saw it, Gargano was putting his friendship above their goals of winning back the tag team championship. Johnny Wrestling said that he wanted to have a talk with the former TNA World Champion. However, the Blackhart thought that things had moved way past talking, and gave his friend an ultimatum.

The 39-year-old told his tag team partner to either come up with a new plan, or they were going to do things his way. This was a highly interesting segment and clarified a lot of things. Earlier, fans assumed that WWE was planting seeds for a DIY break up was planning to run a feud between Gargano and Ciampa. However, it now appears that the tag team turning heel is much more likely. Furthermore, they would then likely go up against the face team of Motor City Machine Guns for the WWE tag titles.
What is the history between Alex Shelley and Johnny Gargano?
As has repeatedly been stated on TV, Alex Shelley has been a mentor to Johnny Gargano. However, their friendship goes much deeper than one would expect. In the past, the former NXT Champion has said that the Technical Messiah was like a big brother to him, and he would not be where he is today without him.
Their friendship is nearly two decades old, and they have faced off against each other multiple times across various promotions. Thus, it was no wonder that the Whole Shebang was delighted to see his friend join WWE. He even made an emotional post dedicated to Shelley shortly after.

Gargano also went up to the Motor City Machine Guns to congratulate them after they won the WWE Tag Team Championship. Of course, Tommaso Ciampa is definitely not a fan of this relationship as he believes this is not allowing DIY to get on top of the tag division.
