Rafael Nadal found his home on clay. As long as it was a clay tournament, he was the undisputed favorite to win. He won the French Open 14 times, making him the record holder for the clay Grand Slam tournament. ATP legend Tommy Haas believes no other player will be like the Spaniard on clay.

Nadal grew up playing tennis on the clay courts of his home island, Mallorca. The 38-year-old has achieved tremendous success on this surface. One of his most unforgettable years was 2010, when the Spaniard won the Monte Carlo, Madrid Open, Italian Open, and French Open, claiming all four major clay tournaments.

Despite a diminishing performance this year that has seen him fail to reach the round of 16 on clay, Tommy Haas believes Rafael Nadal will remain the greatest player on this surface. The German revealed this shortly before the start of the ATP 250 Mallorca Championship.

On land, Nadal is something that goes beyond and it will take a long time to see something like him. But it cannot be guaranteed if there will never be anyone like him on that surface.

Nadal has withdrawn from the Wimbledon as he is focused on playing both the singles and doubles of the men’s tennis competition at the Paris Olympics. The Spaniard has one singles gold medal and a doubles gold medal to his name so far.

I feel like I'm finding the pleasure of playing again, having fun. I want to give myself a chance to see if my physique remains at this level or if it is only a temporary moment and that it starts to go wrong again.
