On Monday, Pittsburgh Pirates star Tommy Pham and Toronto Blue Jays catcher Tyler Heineman got involved in a heated debate, which led to benches being cleared. After the game, Pham would slam the opposition player and take a swipe at him on X.

The incident between the two of them took place in the bottom of the 7th inning at PNC Park. With the Pirates leading 3-2 at that time, Pham went up against Brendon Little.

Following a 3-0 count, Little would throw a pitch that was a bit under the strike zone. The home plate umpire would call it a ball, which resulted in Pham walking to first base.

As he started making his way to first base, he would flip his bat and exchange some words with Heineman. Pham would take a few steps forward and then turn back and start arguing with the Blue Jays star. The benches would briefly get cleared.

The Pirates would go on to win the game 5-2 and clinch the series opener. Following the game, Heineman was asked about his reaction to this incident. As per insider Keegan Matheson, the Blue Jays catcher called the situation “unprovoked” and “super weird.“

After his comment on Keegan Matheson’s post went viral, several Blue Jays fans came to the defense of their catcher and took shots at Pham. One user with a profile picture of Addison Barger tried to troll him.

This did not sit well with the Pittsburgh Pirates star. He would make a shocking comment regarding Barger and claimed that he was someone who takes steroids.

As per TSN‘s Top 50 Blue Jays Prospects 2023 report, Barger served a PED suspension in 2019. After being confronted by the fans, Pham would bring this report up. This led to fans criticizing him even more on X.
