Two Real Madrid icons, Pepe and Toni Kroos, who recently called a day in their footballing careers, were seen spending time together on an enjoyable vacation. The former Real Madrid duo met up and shared a frame on their respective social media handles, which brought about a rush of nostalgia for Madrid fans.

The two seemed to be in great spirits, with the erstwhile German international, Toni Kroos, also reflecting on how different life has been ever since he stepped down from the game. The snap that was shared by Kroos on his Instagram had the caption, ‘August vacation is for former footballers.

Pepe, who is 41 years old, decided to step down from his footballing days after Portugal was eliminated in the Euros quarterfinal against France. Kroos, on the contrary, was offered a contract extension at Real Madrid. However, he chose to decline it and hang his boots once and for all after Germany crashed out of Euro 2024.

Pepe was the first out of the two to be a part of Real Madrid, as he arrived from Porto in 2007. During his decade-long stay at the club, he went on to make 334 appearances, out of which he scored 15 goals. Kroos arrived at Santiago Bernabeu in 2014 after clinching the 2014 World Cup with Germany and was a mainstay thereafter. He played 465 matches for Madrid while winning five Champions League’s and four La Liga’s with the club.
