Real Madrid legend Toni Kroos called time on a spectacular career at the end of last season. While he left Europe as a Champions League winner, many still believe that he had a lot to offer at the age of 34. While there isn’t much evidence that suggests that he’ll return as a player, Kroos recently admitted that he cannot rule out a return to Real Madrid in the near future.
Even though Kroos is currently ‘enjoying’ his retirement and enrolled for a UEFA coaching license, a return to Real Madrid is never off the table. In a recent interview, the midfield maestro opened up about his relationship with the club, and how in the future, he may return to the side in a different capacity.
I will always feel close to (Real) Madrid. I do not rule out that at some point, I may be seen again at some role in Real.

The German also stated that it is for the club to decide if he is ‘needed’ at the organization in a different role. The Los Blancos aren’t really keen on bringing back former players to the club. This is exemplified by their stance on a potential return for Sergio Ramos to fill in the gap left by Eder Militao.
Toni Kroos’ role at Real Madrid and why Carlo Ancelotti is ‘struggling’ without him
Real Madrid have been a completely different side ever since Toni Kroos hung up his boots at the end of last season. The German midfielder was an elemental instrument to Carlo Ancelotti‘s game plan and orchestrated the play for the Italian’s side. However, neither Aurelien Tchouaméni nor Federico Valverde have been completely able to fill in his shoes.

Madrid have lacked ‘creativity’ in several crucial games, with the 4-0 humiliation to rivals Barcelona being at the top of the list. Recent reports claim that the club has stepped up its pursuit of a 21-year-old old German, in the hopes that he can fill in the hole left by his countryman. The player is none other than Florian Wirtz, who player a huge role for Xabi Alonso‘s side in their unbeaten Bundesliga-winning season.

Even though Wirtz hasn’t played a huge number of games in the Champions League, Real are monitoring his performances this season. With seven goals and two assists in the Bundesliga and UCL combined, the forward has begun to pick up pace. There are also reports that Real Madrid want both the player and his manager Xabi Alonso.
