Toni Kroos urges teammates to treat Atalanta clash as a final
Real Madrid midfielder has urged his teammates to treat their Champions league tie against Atalanta as a potential final, to bring out the best in the team. Real Madrid have been knocked out of the Champions league at the same stage for the last 2 years.
Los Blancos have a tough task at hand of stopping the Atalanta outfit at their home in the first leg. Madrid have 9 key first team players injured and Zidane has called up 5 Castilla players for this fixture.
Kroos prefers providing Benzema assists rather than Mbappe or Haaland
However, Toni Kroos believes Real Madrid need to keep fighting with whatever resources they have at hand. Kroos said, “We have to do what we’ve done lately, which is push on despite missing several players. Those who are here must give their all.
We always try to control the match and keep possession. We’re facing a team that plays differently. It’s going to be a complicated game, but we knew that already.
“Every game is like a Final, the Champions League starts now, but it won’t be easy against a side that knows how to play football and attack. We will try to interpret the match in the best way, well aware we’re going to have to defend too.
Kroos was evasive when asked about whether he’d like Madrid to sign Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland this coming summer. “They’re both very good and can help any team,” he said. “The problem is that tomorrow they won’t help me, I’m focused on my game. That’s not my topic, but a question for Florentino.”
Real Madrid need to be at their 100 percent if they want to churn out a result and the performance of Madrid’s midfield trio will have a big impact on the outcome of the match.
