This development comes less than 10 months before the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) is set to expire. As the executive director, he was supposed to play a major role in the meetings as owners were reported to push for the salary cap.
The MLBPA would release a statement regarding this later on. While they did not address the reason for his sudden resignation, the board claimed that the representatives had met and discussed the next steps to be taken.
The full executive board of Player representatives met this afternoon with MLBPA staff and outside counsel to discuss next steps. as always, the Players remain focused on their ongoing preparations for collective bargaining this year. The strength of this union is — and will always be — the solidarity of our membership. We have a long history of fighting for the rights of every Player, and we’re committed to making sure we can continue that fight successfully.
