Kelvin Gastelum was in desperate need of a victory before the UFC 258. The fighter was in a must-win situation and he sure did rise up to the occasion. Kelvin bagged his victory against Ian Heinisch by a unanimous decision. Gastelum held his ground and outboxed Ian in a spectacular way.
The fighter was having a hard time coming from three consecutive losses back to back. The stab on the back was the heartbreaking defeat against middleweight champion Israel Adesanya. This is Kelvin’s first win in almost three years. It was an emotional victory to the fighter as he expressed post-match, “I’m trying to hold back tears. I’m so happy,”.
Gastelum showed fast hands in this fight and also countered a flying knee from Heinisch with a takedown to bring the action to the mat. Though Gastelum didn’t land a ton of damage he sure did have better strikes in the fight. Kelvin countered every attempt of Ian until time ran out.

Jamaican Bantamweight superstar, Aljamain Sterling had great respect for Kelvin after the fight saying, “Gastelum showing his experience in there against a very game Heinisch.”
Former kickboxer and UFC Welterweight star, Stephen Thompson has some words of praise for Gastelum after his victory, “Great win @kelvingastelum!!! Looked sharp! Congrats !”. Even Marlon Vera was excited that Kelvin got his win after 3 years “Let’s goooooo KG”, the star exclaimed.
