Khabib Nurmagomedov had a spotless performance at UFC 254, except when he stepped on the scale. Although ‘The Eagle’ has left the sport at 29-0, Tony Ferguson is still pursuing a fight with the lightweight champion. This time around, Tony has made fun of Khabib’s controversial weigh-in at UFC 254.

Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov have been scheduled to fight each other five times. However, the fight between the two never came to fruition. With Khabib surprising the world with his retirement, the fight will probably go down as one of the biggest what-ifs in UFC history.

Khabib Nurmagomedov looked drained when he stepped on the scale ahead of his title defense. Moreover, the manner in which the official announced the official weight despite not letting the scale settle stirred a controversy.

With Khabib Nurmagomedov out of the picture, can Tony Ferguson win the lightweight title?

Tony Ferguson once held a long streak of victories in one of the toughest divisions of the UFC. However, Justin Gaethje broke the streak earlier this year at UFC 249 via a TKO. However, with ‘The Highlight’ losing to Khabib and the latter retiring, the 155-pound division is left wide open.

There are a number of contenders up for the challenge of stepping up as the new champion. One has to keep in mind though, that Dana White is not yet ready to take the belt away from Khabib. However, even if the champ does end his retirement, there’s a high probability that he does so to fight Georges St-Pierre.

As per Khabib, Ferguson took a lot of damage against Gaethje for 36-year-old. Therefore, the now-retired champ believes that Ferguson will not be the same when he returns to the Octagon.

As far as Ferguson’s status upon return is concerned, that can only be fully clear when he heads back to the Octagon. In the past, ‘El Cucuy’ has shown an exceptional ability to recover from injuries. If he will be able to do the same with the damage received inside the Octagon is a question that only time can answer.
