On December 10, 2023, Tony Romo, the CBS sports commentator, sent fans and Swifties into a frenzy with a tongue-in-cheek slip-up. Romo, who was on the broadcasting panel at the Kansas City Chiefs’ regular-season game against the Buffalo Bills, addressed Taylor Swift as Travis Kelce’s wife before correcting himself and apologizing for the slip-up.

Since the pair started dating a few months before Romo made the slip-up, there has been constant speculation about marriage. The former Dallas Cowboys quarterback’s comment fed into the rumor. He had said:

As you see, Kelce’s wife, Taylor Swift, is in the audience. I’m sorry, girlfriend.

Two years after the slip-up, Romo has clarified why he addressed the Blank Space as the tight end’s wife rather than his girlfriend. It was not a slip-up, apparently, but a calculated play to spice up things and have a little fun with it. Romo said on Thursday’s SiriusXM “The Morning MashUp Show:”

I did, kind of, play with the fans. I think I was like, ‘And there’s …’ I think I said, ‘his wife,’ I did that on purpose. And people were like, ‘Do you know something?’ I was like, ‘Nah, I just wanted to make you guys think for a second [and] just mess with you a little bit.’

Though Romo made a mistake, Swift and Kelce are very close to becoming spouses. The pair announced their engagement last August with an Instagram post captioned, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.

According to the latest reports, the pair is scheduled to wed later this year in a private and intimate glitzy ceremony in Rhode Island. However, there’s some trouble in paradise brewing behind the curtains.

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s nuptials under threat from the Justin Baldoni-Blake Lively legal drama

Travis Kelce is reportedly growing anxious that his much-anticipated wedding to Taylor Swift may be delayed. The tight-end’s anxiety is linked to the pop superstar’s increasing entanglement in the ongoing legal dispute involving the “It Ends With Us” stars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.

The Kansas City Chiefs star and the 14-time Grammy winner had seemingly been moving toward a summer wedding. As per several sources, Swift had begun planning what many expected to be a high-profile celebration.

However, recent developments in the Baldoni–Lively lawsuit have cast uncertainty over those plans. The outside noise amid what’s supposed to be a stable phase for the couple must surely put some strain on the couple.

The backstory of the legal dispute goes like this: Blake Lively filed a lawsuit against Justin Baldoni in late 2024, alleging harassment and a coordinated attempt to damage her public image following the release of It Ends With Us.

Though Swift’s name came up, it was quite peripheral in the initial stages. However, recently unsealed personal text messages between the actress and the pop star have pulled Swift right into the center of the case.

In the messages, the two allegedly mocked Baldoni. Page Six reported that Swift had called Baldoni, “a b****” with a “tiny violin.” She also had sent Lively a text stating that she would stick with her at any moment. These have fueled public scrutiny and heightened the possibility that the pop star might be a witness in the legal dispute.

According to reports, Kelce has been supportive but privately worried about how deeply the situation could affect their plans. Sources suggested that he has encouraged Swift to distance herself from the controversy where possible and focus on protecting her personal well-being. Though the couple remains committed to each other, the uncertainty and latest revelations in the case might prompt them to reconsider their timelines.
