Tony Romo watched Dak Prescott carry the Dallas Cowboys to a victory against the Kansas City Chiefs on Thanksgiving Day. Following the win, Romo declared that the Cowboys are a dangerous team.
The Cowboys’ season looked bleak when they fell to 3-5-1 and looked set to miss the playoffs for the second straight year. Consecutive wins against the Raiders and the Eagles ignited a spark before their big showdown against last year’s Super Bowl runner-ups.
KC rolled into Dallas chasing its seventh win of the season. Vegas had the Chiefs pegged as favorites, but history told a different story. The Cowboys had dominated the series in 12 past matchups and hadn’t dropped a home game to the Chiefs in over 50 years.
That tradition continued on Thursday as the Cowboys secured a 31-28 victory.
Tony Romo covered the game for CBS Sports alongside Jim Nantz. During the post-game show, Romo declared that his former team is capable enough to defeat anyone.
It was a huge performance [by the Cowboys]. We’ve been like, alright, let’s see what they can do in this incredible tough situation. You are going against a team [the Chiefs] that has been to so many Super Bowls, never not made the AFC Championship under Mahomes, and you came out with your season on the line… Another loss, they were probably gonna be out. And they won.
Tony Romo said
The AT&T Stadium went silent when Dak Prescott threw an interception on just his third pass of the day. A sense of déjà vu kicked in. Luckily, Prescott pulled his back up and threw 320 yards and 2 touchdowns and achieved a 109.05 QBR.
Wide receiver George Pickens racked up 88 yards on 6 receptions, while CeeDee Lamb caught 7 for 112 yards and 1 touchdown. Mid-season signing Jadeveon Clowney sacked Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes twice, and DeMarvion Overshown tallied 8 total tackles.
They controlled the football game in a lot of ways, which is actually gives you a little bit more hope because now your like okay, you just did that to the Eagles who are number in the NFC and we know this team always plays in the AFC title game, we got the Lions next week in Detroit, if they win that game, they will be favored in every game, rest of the year. They can go on a run, and if they get in the playoffs, this is a very very dangerous Dallas Cowboys team.
Romo quipped
Can the Dallas Cowboys make a playoff push?

The Cowboys created history by defeating the Chiefs
The validation of the ‘America’s Team’ will rage on forever. For now, the Cowboys hold that title and earned the bragging rights by beating the Chiefs.

They made NFL history by becoming the first team to beat both the reigning Super Bowl champions and the previous season’s runners-up. On top of that, it was Prescott’s fourth 300-yard game on Thanksgiving, putting him on par with Romo and Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford.
The #Cowboys become first team in history to defeat the previous season’s Super Bowl teams in a five-day span. Dak Prescott has 300 yards — 200 to WR. @mattmosley and I react. https://t.co/7s1BEWzCRp
