The 2024 NASCAR Cup season has been marked with the intense charter wars. The teams were given an ultimatum to sign the new deal that will be valid from 2025 to 2031. All teams other than 23XI Racing and FRM, signed the deal budging to the pressure while the other two went onto sure NASCAR alleging monopoly.
The team owners were visibly upset and frustrated with NASCAR about the way they handled the issue. Hall of Fame owner Rick Hendrick even admitted that he signed the deal, after getting tired of the way everything played out. Now soon to be ex-team owner Tony Stewart has chimed in on the situation.
He branded the charter agreements as a joke, despite the fact that he signed for of them for the four SHR charters. Tony Stewart pointed out that frustration from Hendrick shows how messed up is the situation for the NASCAR team at the moment. This absurdity of the situation was one of the reasons behind SHR closing operations.

Tony Stewart claims he is a purist that doesn’t want to be part of NASCAR
While further talking about the point, the former Cup champion asserted that he is a racing purist and an old cool racer. So, he hates to be part of such an area and the recent drama justifies his decision to quit NASCAR.
The words from Tony Stewart, a champion of the sport, shows the gravity of the team owners struggles in NASCAR. They aren’t getting the support the deserves from the series owners despite the massive revenue they are bringing into the sport.
For someone like Stewart, who is getting ready to have a proper family, dealing with the stressful situation is not a healthy option and that’s why he is getting out. But the other owners can’t afford to do that, as they have already given too much to the sport and they deserve support from the whole racing community.
