Top 5 raids of today’s PKL matches | 25 December 2021

The fourth day of the PKL season 8 saw big-name raiders such as Pardeep Narwal and Siddharth Desai in action. The Patna Pirates took on UP Yoddha in the opening fixture as it was a homecoming for Pardeep Narwal albeit with a different jersey this time around. The two teams had a thrilling contest with UP Yoddha edging out over their opponents in the end.

In the second game of the night, it was the Puneri Paltan locking horns with the Telugu Titans. It was a night of homecoming, as Rahul Chaudhari was in action against his former side, Telugu Titans. The final contest of the day saw inaugural champions Jaipur Pink Panthers take on Haryana Steelers, as the Pink Panthers got their first win of the season.

The raiders were on fire tonight for their respective sides racking up points in offense for their sides. Let’s look at the top five raids of Day 3 in the PKL season 8.

#05 Rohit Gulia against Jaipur Pink Panthers in PKL 8 – 3 point (Super Raid)

With Haryana Steelers trailing by six points and Vikash Kondola on the sidelines it was up to Rohit Gulia to score the points for his side.

In the final 90 seconds of the game, Rohit produced a magnificent super raid as he escaped an ankle hold from Rahul and then on his way hold he displayed composure touching Cheralthan and Vishal on his way out.

#04 Surinder Gill against Patna Pirates – 1 point

Surinder Gill was misfiring for the majority of the game, but his final raid of the match was the one that decided the fate of the game. On the final raid, UP had a one-point lead over Patna, but with Surinder on a do-or-die raid, things could take a turn for any side.

The experienced raider, yet again proved why he is one of the most crucial do-or-die raiders in the history of the league as he leaped into Patna’s defense securing the bonus point for his team, even though Patna tackled the raider, the bonus meant UP Yoddha maintained their lead, winning the fixture in the process.

#03 Siddharth Desai against Puneri Paltan – 3 points (Super Raid)

Siddhartha Desai was just unstoppable tonight against Puneri Paltan in the PKL. The Telugu Titans ace was lethal throughout the match, in the closing minutes of the first half, the raider back-kicked Sanket Sawant and then escaped the dash from Abhinesh Natrajan and Pankaj Mohite, bringing three points to his side.

#02 Mohit Goyat against Telugu Titans – 3 + 2 points (Super Raid + All Out)

Mohit Goyat was subbed in for Rahul Chaudhari in the first half and the raider grabbed the opportunity with open arms. Five minutes into the second half, the raider came into a do-or-die raid, with super tackle available for the Telugu Titans. With just nine seconds remaining in the raid, the player jumped over Ruturaj Koravi’s attempt for a double-thigh hold and then crept under Surinder and C Arun to get the all-out for his side.

#01 Siddharth Desai against Puneri Paltan – 3 points (Super Raid)

The “Bahubali” Siddharth Desai proved once again why he is one of the most powerful raiders in the league. In the final ten minutes of the game, the ace raider made a great back-kick on Aslam Inamdar, and then despite being blocked by Natarajan and Mohit Goyat from the front, he used his brute strength to push them aside to touch the midline.

It was a great day for the raiders tonight, as six raiders completed their super ten across the three fixtures, Deepak Niwas Hooda and Ankit Deshwal we’re the stars for Jaipur Pink Panthers tonight, both raiders crossing the ten-point mark to get the victory for their side. Siddharth Desai was stellar tonight but will be upset after losing a close encounter against Puneri Paltan in the PKL.

With just two fixtures on the card tomorrow we could see sparks flying as Bengaluru Bulls face Bengal Warriors followed by the Tamil Thalaivas taking on U Mumba to close game week 1.
