Prominent French tennis journalist Benoit Maylin had some strong sentiments about Novak Djokovic‘s composure and confidence during the Wimbledon final against Carlos Alcaraz last Sunday.

The reputable writer, while on the Winamax show, stated that he felt Novak Djokovic went into the match with no hopes of winning. He believes the World No.2 did not believe he could put up a fight, which is why he was brought down that easily by the sensational youngster from Spain.

He entered the court without believing it. He did anything tactically. All his service zones were neutral. He systematically attacked Alcaraz's forehand as if he wanted to be punished. He didn't attack his ball on the fly. He had no hands. No trust. I had never seen body language like that. He came into this final saying to himself: ‘I’m not going to win anyway.’ There was no reaction. Nothing. Except once in the third where he screams.

Adding to this, he rated the level displayed by both players in that match and brutally gave Djokovic the lowest rating possible simply because he felt the Serb did not take the match seriously.

On this final, if I have to give a score out of ten, of course I will give 9.5 out of 10, with just this little hiccup at the conclusion. But if I have to give Djokovic a rating, I give him 1 out of 10. I've never seen him like that.
Benoit Maylin added

On the contrary, Maylin thinks Alcaraz played a nearly perfect game to dominate his rival, with just some minor hiccups coming as he was trying to serve it out in the third set.

During the presentation ceremony after the final, he was made aware that he had to attend the ball and may not be able to catch the complete soccer match between Spain and England. However, the enthusiastic Spaniard somehow supposedly caught the entire match, as he said he had to switch between multiple devices and watch it on his phone on the way to the party. 

Alcaraz confirmed that he did not want to get out of his escort car until he was sure one of Spain’s goals was legitimate and was not going to be called offside.
