Carlos Alcaraz already has won the same number of Roland Garros titles as Roger Federer did in his entire career.

Top tennis journalist Benoit Maylin has shared some important analysis regarding Carlos Alcaraz. Maylin has claimed that the young Spaniard is similar to the great Roger Federer, but with a two-handed backhand.
Maylin also believes that Alcaraz can perform better on clay than Federer because he doesn’t have a rival like Rafael Nadal on that surface. The Spaniard will enter this year’s Roland Garros as the defending champion.
Alcaraz is Federer with a two-handed backhand. And Federer at 21, I can tell you, he didn’t play like that. So, if this guy can play like that on clay (gasps), create like that, be intelligent, lucid, straight in his boots, very clear in his face, take the ball early, not rush and take the ball early… If Alcaraz plays like that all the time, there is no more tennis tour. It’s dead! There is not an opponent who would be capable of playing at that level.
Benoit Maylin said on Sans Filet
Alcaraz has built some momentum ahead of Roland Garros. The 21-year-old won his first Monte Carlo title and also reached the final of the Barcelona Open.
Or then, all of a sudden, there is a guy who is going to be like Nadal, who comes and starts to mess him up. But Nadal messes him up because he is left-handed and the other one (Federer) has a one-handed backhand! The problem is that a left-hander who can hold his own on clay doesn’t exist, there isn’t one. There isn’t one on the tennis planet right now. So we’ll have to find that one.
Benoit Maylin added
Federer won only one Roland Garros title but reached five finals in total, losing four of them to Nadal. In contrast, Alcaraz has won the only Roland Garros final he has played, which was against Alexander Zverev.
Alexander Zverev passes Carlos Alcaraz to become the new World No.2
The World No. 2 spot is wide open at the upcoming Mutua Madrid Open. This is the fourth ATP Masters 1000 event of the season. Alexander Zverev defends 100 points, while Carlos Alcaraz defends 200. Every match could be important.
Alcaraz will have to defend 2,000 points at Roland Garros later on. But Zverev has more points to defend in total during the clay season. He won in Rome last year, where Alcaraz did not play.

Until the end of Roland Garros, Zverev needs to defend 2,400 points. Alcaraz has to defend 2,200 points. That could affect the rankings battle between them.
Holger Rune just won his first title of the season in Barcelona. This win pushed him up to No. 9 in the ATP Live Rankings. He will return to the Top 10 on Monday. In Madrid, he has a good chance to go higher, since Rublev is the defending champ and will lose 1,000 points.
Carlos Alcaraz to undergo MRI after Barcelona Open final
Spanish star Carlos Alcaraz has been in great form recently. But once again, injuries may slow him down. He might miss the Madrid Open, which begins next Wednesday.

In the Barcelona Open final, Alcaraz played against Holger Rune. During the match, he felt some pain and took a medical timeout. After that, he didn’t look the same on court.
Following the match, Alcaraz decided to get an MRI scan. This will help him find out how serious the injury is. He had trouble moving and couldn’t keep up with Rune. The Dane took control and won the second set 6-2. It was Rune’s first ATP 500 title and a big moment in his career.
