As days near the American elections, more celebrities and sportspersons are letting their fans know their ideologies and thoughts on the election promises. Former wide receiver Torrey Smith has come out on X in response to Republican candidate Donald Trump’s public school defunding controversy.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump made an appearance on the Fox Daily morning show “Fox & Friends” recently. In the interview, Trump announced that he would be defunding the public schools that teach that America was built on the backs of the slaves. The comment followed his initial admission to close the Department of Education (DoE).

The think tank’s plan outlines a vision for major government reforms including the abolition of the Education Department. The dismantling of DoE could have numerous implications on the American society and education system.

Torrey Smith, a strong vocalizer against Trump, responded to a tweet of the interview. He denounced the statement, calling the move “disturbing.”

Early voting has begun for the U.S. Presidential Election, culminating on Tuesday, November 5th, the official Election Day. The NFL world has been active in the upcoming elections with players, WAGs, and management voicing their opinions.

Antonio Brown, Patrick Mahomes, Brett Favre, and Harrison Butker are a few on the MAGA train. Brown participated in the ex-President’s Philadelphia rally and took a jab at his presidential opponent. On 20th September, several Pro Football Hall of Famers publicly endorsed Kamala Harris on the occasion of National Black Voters Day.

Torrey Smith clashed with Maryland Republican congressional district nominee

In July, Torrey Smith engaged with Donald Trump supporters on X, stating that “the bar is the floor” for those backing the former president. Republican politician Kimberly Klacik, running for office in Maryland, responded to the two-time Super Bowl champion by expressing her desire to debate him.

Smith, however, didn’t entertain Klacik’s idea and expressed Trump should be debating Harris. The debate ensued with the latter alleging that Smith was a failed footballer. Smith followed it up with a list of his NFL achievements and a challenge.

You are delusional to real life. You also don’t like facts. Average NFL career 3.3 years – I played 8 and could’ve kept going. Small percentage of players win a Super Bowl…I have 2 Also, If I wanted to in to politics, I would beat you.
