Steve Ballmer funded the Intuit Dome for the Los Angeles Clippers

Steve Ballmer is the former CEO of Microsoft and the sixth richest person in the world. Ballmer was always a passionate basketball fan. As such, in 2014, he purchased the Los Angeles Clippers franchise for $2 billion. It was the most amount paid to purchase an NBA franchise. Ballmer has recently decided to invest his $2 billion to build the Intuit Dome. He wants the arena labeled as “Mecca of Basketball.”

The Intuit Dome is 10 miles away from the Crypto.com Arena, which is the Clippers’ current arena. They share the arena with their rivals, the Los Angeles Lakers. The Intuit Dome experience begins by entering an 80,000-square-foot plaza. On the left is an outdoor basketball court with a 75-foot 4K video board as a backdrop.

I want it to be about the basketball, I want it to be pump and stomp and have the fans engaged and bringing the energy during the games. I feed off that.

Completing the plaza is a restaurant and a bar, with a space for concerts and bands to perform. They also allocated 5000 square feet for the first-ever Clippers flagship store. Steve Ballmer wants the fans to be out in their seats, enjoying the games and contributing to the atmosphere. It will have the largest video scoreboard the NBA has ever seen.

Furthermore, the arena will have a space called “The Wall” for the most loyal Clippers fans, where one can’t cheer for the opposing team or wear their gear. Ballmer has put his whole heart into building the Dome to provide NBA fans with the experience of a lifetime. This new arena is set to provide the ultimate home-court advantage to the Los Angeles Clippers.
