Trading Luka Doncic away has brought ‘death threats’ to Mavs GM Nico Harrison
Dallas Mavericks GM Nico Harrison has been facing the heat for trading away franchise cornerstone Luka Doncic.
Nico Harrison receiving death threats after trading away Luka Doncic
The world over has still not accepted the fact that Luka Doncic is now a part of the Los Angeles Lakers. They could not understand why GM Nico Harrison had a change of heart after their franchise cornerstone led the Dallas Mavericks to the NBA Finals last season.
They had questions about Doncic’s conditioning and drive to win them their second NBA title. Which explains why Harrison felt Anthony Davis can help them win now. But he and the ownership disregarded the fact that the Slovenian could have given them a few more opportunities if he played for another ten seasons.
That is what Dallas Mavericks fans could not understand. Sending away a prime 25-year-old who has been an All-NBA 1st teamer in the past five seasons for a soon to be 32-year-old was baffling. The net result just did not make sense to them.
Mavericks fans instantly showed their disgust to this trade and laid out a coffin and wrote profanity laced messages towards Harrison near the American Airlines Center. But now it seems the situation has become worse as ESPN’s Tim MacMahon revealed on NBA Today.

The ESPN reporter revealed all this from the American Airlines Center. The Mavericks will face the Houston Rockets tomorrow. As per MacMahon, Nico Harrison will not be sitting in his usual seat. He will instead move to a seat where he is safe from hostile fans.
Nico Harrison facing heat all alone
The Dallas Mavericks have beefed up security. It is also rumored that Nico Harrison has hired security to guard his house and his family. Even then, Tim MacMahon believes the former Nike executive is unjustly facing all this heat on his own. He said this while speaking on ESPN’s Hoop Collective podcast as quoted by CBS Sports.

Their logic stems from the fact that there was no way a player of Luka Doncic‘s stature could be traded away unless those sitting higher up weren’t ok with it. The ownership along with senior executives have signed off on the trade, which is when Nico Harrison completed it. But the 52-year-old former basketball player is facing the heat on his own.
