Trae Young coins new term after yet another All-Star snub: “Sorry to my fans…”

Despite scoring 22.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 11.4 assists per game, Trae Young was left off of the NBA All-Star Game reserves list. The matter came to light on Thursday. In addition to addressing the contentious NBA All-player Game selection, the Atlanta Hawks superstar apologized to his supporters on social media for missing the yearly event.

For the 26-year-old, this is rather familiar ground. While Young was an All-Star in 2020, 2022, and 2024, he has not been selected in consecutive years. In addition, the 2024 selection was made because he was called up as an injured replacement. Following the disclosure of his exclusion, Young emphasized his conviction that he is currently being treated disrespectfully and referring to the snub as “Traed.”

& it’s no longer getting “snubbed” it’s getting “Traed” at this point. Sorry to my fans.. it’ll change eventually! All right, talk soon!

The Hawks are now 22–26 on the season following their defeat over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday. That, along with Young’s poor field goal and three-point shooting percentages, likely tells the case of his exclusion. However, one might also present the opposite argument. Overall, it was a difficult break for Young.

As it turns out, one could argue that Trae Young is deserving of an All-Star selection. Unfortunately, only 12 players in each conference can play the game. Hence, some players will inevitably be left out, just like it happens every year.

Trae Young makes his intentions clear regarding ‘NBA referees’

On Tuesday, January 28, Trae Young was involved in a feisty altercation with Houston Rockets’ Dillon Brooks. The Rockets player threw his hands around Young’s neck after they got into a fight following a dead ball. Brooks and Young were given two technical fouls as a result. However, Young didn’t appear to have done anything to merit the technical that was called on both players.

I didn’t get an explanation [why I got a tech]. They told our coaches that I head-butted [Dillon Brooks]. … He knew what he was doing. … These refs are not worth my money, but we do need some new ones.

Overall, the officiating was harsh, and it was clear that both teams were a little frustrated. The Hawks ultimately fell 100-96. Furthermore, their situation is worsened by their loss to the Cavaliers on Thursday. With Jalen Johnson gone for the remainder of the season, they are currently on a 7-game losing streak and have further concerns.
