Bill Simmons shares an interesting take on the Atlanta Hawks star man Trae Young's next possible team in the NBA.
Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo and Trae Young
The Atlanta Hawks’ Trae Young has been in the news recently due to reports that his side may decide to trade him. Interestingly, Young has spent the last 6 NBA seasons with the Hawks, but over the last 2 to 3 years, Young and his side seem to be making no progress in the NBA. Notably, on the Bill Simmons podcast, Simmons revealed an intriguing take that Young may be traded to this one team: the Miami Heat.
Simmons claimed on his podcast that Young would be the perfect fit in the Miami Heat, alongside the Heat’s current star players, Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo. Not only that, but Simmons also claimed that Young would be like a warrior on the Heat side and made it clear that this was one trade deal that he would like to see happening.
If you're Miami, you keep Butler. You have Bam, Trae, and Heat Culture—just the kind of guy who is a warrior. It would just seem like the kind of trade I'd be like, oh man, and then the more I look at him, I'm like, oh [expletive], that might actually have been a good trade for them. I don't know why, but I like him in Miami for some reason. On the Bill Simmons podcast, Simmons said
During this 2023-24 NBA season, Young averaged 25.7 points and 10.8 assists. He would completely change the offensive approach of the Heat, but he wouldn’t be able to work inside their system if he played defense like he does for the Hawks. It will be intriguing to see what happens with Trae Young in the trade market in the off-season.
2 possible destinations where Trae Young could be traded next 2024-25 NBA season
Trae Young, the All-Star point guard for the Atlanta Hawks, is perhaps the player who has been discussed the most in trade speculations this summer. The question of whether Young will be traded remains unanswered, but if he becomes available, many teams will be interested in acquiring him. The Los Angeles Lakers and the San Antonio Spurs are the two possible teams that Young might be traded to.
The Lakers have had a poor 2023-24 NBA season despite having star players like LeBron James and Anthony Davis at their disposal. The prospect of adding a 3rd in the form of the Atlanta Hawks star man Trae Young would surely be a trade they won’t miss out on. The Lakers have been rumored to want Young in their star-studded roster. However, any trade deal for Young will not be easy as the Haws would have the upper hand in the negotiations.
On the other hand, for one very significant and evident reason, the San Antonio Spurs are a noteworthy contender for Trae Young: Victor Wembanyama. Wemby has risen to unprecedented levels of NBA stardom this season, despite the Spurs’ gradual rebuilding strategy. Interestingly, the idea of pairing one of the best rookies in the game alongside a star in Young will be a deal the Spurs would not refuse at all. Now, it remains to be seen where Young’s future lies in the NBA in the coming months.
