In a major move for the 2025 season, the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) and the United States Golf Association (USGA) changed their gender policy. Trans golfer Hailey Davidson would later blast them for this.

Per the new guidelines, players must be assigned female at birth or have transitioned to female before going through male puberty to participate in LPGA and USGA events. This means that Davidson is banned from competing for the time being.

Davidson’s participation in women’s golf events has caused a massive stir in recent years. Several athletes, including tennis legend Martina Navratilova, had urged tournaments to ban Davidson from golfing events. Players like Davidson, who were assigned as male at birth, can play on the circuit by meeting two major criteria.

The first is that players should not have experienced male puberty in any body part either Beyond Tanner Stage 2 or after age 12, whichever comes first. The second is that players who underwent gender reassignment treatment must maintain a testosterone level in their serum below 2.5 nmol/L.

Reacting to this development, Davidson blasted the LPGA and USGA for these rules. The Scottish international claimed that this was something that she did see coming through.

Social media users were left thrilled when the news of the LPGA and the USGA updating their gender policy surged up. After Hailey Davidson complained about this, fans on X brutally attacked her.

Several users welcomed this move by the LPGA and trolled Davidson. One curious fan even asked why does the trans community not start their own sporting leagues. Some urged her to play on the PGA Tour while some called her a “cheater“.

As per reports, Davidson played in the first stage of the LPGA Q School this year. However, she did not have a great time and struggled on the course. This saw her finish in 95th place and missed out on the qualification for the LPGA Tour. However, she did qualify for the Espon Tour.

With these new changes, her eligibility to play on that tour will be affected. Davidson underwent the gender-affirming surgery back in 2021. Prior to that, she had been on hormone treatment since 2015.
