While being projected to be the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Travis Hunter is having a remarkable season with the Colorado Buffaloes. Not only did he lead the team to qualify for the Bowl game for the first time in the last eight years, but is also a favorite in the running for the Heisman Trophy this season.
But more than he credits himself for his success, he acknowledged the role of his head coach Deion Sanders in his growth. During a recent media interaction ahead of the game against Texas Tech, Hunter reflected upon his relationship with Coach Prime.
"It's just an unbreakable son and father bond… I can't even explain it enough, I love him so much and I know he loves me so much." @TravisHunterJr talks about the relationship he has with @CUBuffsFootball's @DeionSanders ❤️? pic.twitter.com/am40ISivwq

With a 6-2 record, the Buffaloes have qualified for the Bowl game but Coach Prime believes this is not the standard of achievement he ought to achieve in Colorado. Though he appreciates the love and support from the fans, he is aiming for a bigger picture starting with acquiring a Big 12 conference championship.
Travis Hunter reflects on family-oriented bond with head coach Deion Sanders
This is not the first time the star wide receiver has opened up about his relationship with head coach Sanders. During his interview on his ‘Richard Sherman’ podcast, Hunter shared how Coach Prime’s family-oriented approach comforted his mother to allow him to transfer to Jackson State to play under Sanders.
Hunter further commended Coach Prime for keeping his family close, as he did with both his sons: Shedeur and Shilo Sanders on his team and having his daughters around all the time, sharing he wanted to “learn from somebody like that.”
This special bond illustrated by the young college superstar is equally reciprocated by head coach Deion, who treats him as a part of his family. As whenever he talks about his sons’ future in the NFL, he includes Hunter in the conversations as well.
