Travis Hunter is in his final season in college football. There’s a massive interest from fans who want to know which NFL team the two-way star might end up playing for.
As per Tankathon, Hunter will likely be the fifth overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The New England Patriots currently hold that spot, with two wins and six losses.
If he ends up with the Patriots, then the first course of action will be for him to decide on a jersey number. Hunter currently wears the No. 12 for Colorado, but his recent comments hinted that he might opt for a different one in Boston, and he has a valid reason behind it.
Tom Brady won six Super Bowls wearing the No. 12 with the New England Patriots (one more with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers). Hunter respects the legacy left behind by arguably the best player/quarterback ever to play in the NFL.
Projected Top-5 pick Travis Hunter says he will not wear No. 12 if the #Patriots draft him.

“What if I go to the Patriots? Bro, I’m not gonna wear Tom Brady’s number bro. That’s too much legacy in that jersey. I respect Tom Brady too much.”

Does Travis Hunter believe he can win the Heisman Trophy?
The 21-year-old has been phenomenal this year, and Colorado has benefited from his strengths as a corner and his sleek moves in the wide receiver department. He constantly ranked among the top athletes in college football, and it’s no surprise he’s in the mix for the Heisman Trophy. However, Hunter knows it’s a team game.
He leads the nation in snaps played (895) and has averaged 111.9 snaps over eight games this season. Despite playing so many snaps on offense and defense, Hunter never complained about fatigue, and given the opportunity, he will continue to do so even in the NFL.
Travis Hunter is a close second (+220) to Miami quarterback Cam Ward (+170) and ahead of Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel (+280) as per the latest odds from FanDuel after the Week 10 games. Colorado had an idle week, which gave their players a chance to prepare for their next game against the Texas Tech Red Rebels.
