Travis Hunter was at the highest point in his college football life when he won the Heisman Trophy this year. That high point instantly turned into a low when his fiancée Leanna Lenee was embroiled in a controversy surrounding her attitude during events surrounding the Heisman award ceremony.
Fans called Lenee for apparently disrespecting the Colorado Buffaloes superstar after he created history. That continued to boil over when at a scheduled event, she seemed to boss over the 21-year-old. Fans made it seem as if she was trying to be the center of everything despite the superstars being the one fans wanted to see.
That discourse came to be discussed among former athletes, who felt something was off about Lenee. They picked on her comments about Hunter not originally being her type, but then she accepted him, which made it seem to them as if she was a gold-digger.
Even though Hall of Famer Michael Irvin, a close friend of Hunter’s head coach Deion Sanders, tried to dampen the situation, another former Pro-Bowler Dez Bryant chimed in with a post on X a while earlier.

In the now-deleted post, Dez Bryant went on to suggest that he believes Travis Hunter is a ‘great dude’. He also believes the Heisman Trophy winner will find a woman who respects him. His feels Leanna Lenee wants all the attention, which will be a problem down the line.
Dez Bryant backs up his comments after facing fan backlash
Once he released this post, it garnered millions of views. However, the nature of the post brought along with a lot of backlash from fans. They felt he was unnecessarily poking at a situation without being in that situation. But that brought out another comment from the former All-Pro WR.
This message showed he was speaking from his own experience and hoped Travis Hunter listened to it from someone who has been in his shoes before. However, these constant posts brought out further criticism from fans who felt former athletes were posting this on social media for clout.
Ain't shit for clicks over here… I made mistakes and pray no athlete ever goes through some of the shit I've been through.. I had a good heart that turned cold.. https://t.co/6ANhkB8edi

Hunter’s teammate Shedeur Sanders also had a similar view. He mentioned that all of these athletes could find ways to tell what they felt directly to Travis Hunter. Instead, they are using social media, which means they are looking for clicks. Hunter sadly, has deactivated his accounts.
