The Colorado Buffaloes’ dual threat Travis Hunter is ready to tackle any challenge thrown at his face. The young player has responded very strongly to the Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce‘s strong comments and challenges.
In the past season of college football, Hunter resigned supreme with a Heisman-winning season. Hunter had a phenomenal 2024 season, excelling on both sides of the ball. Offensively, he recorded 96 catches for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns. Defensively, he contributed 35 tackles, a forced fumble, four interceptions, and 11 passes defended.
Earlier this month, Travis Kelce questioned whether Travis Hunter will be able to replicate the same two-way success in the professional world.
He’s gonna have to prove that he can do it. Nobody has ever played every single play on both sides… In the NFL, they’ll have to scheme up around him getting too exhausted. They really have to weigh that into their play-calling, both offensively and defensively.
Travis Kelce said on a New Heights podcast episode
In response, on his show, The Travis Hunter Show, the former Buffs player took on the challenge and said that he’s gonna prove Travis Kelce wrong.
I’m gonna prove it, that I can do it. Like he said, I have to prove that I can do it. So that’s my main thing. Imma prove that I’m gonna do it and I can do it.
Travis Hunter responded
In his speech, he also admitted that the tight end is not wrong to challenge him. He further stated that he will have to prove it when he says or admits he can do it.
Travis Hunter expected to join a fallen dynasty amid their attempts to reclaim glory
Geoff Schwartz, speaking on First Things First with Nick Wright and Kevin Wildes, outlined a bold scenario. In this particular mock draft, the New England Patriots, holding the No. 4 pick, are set to land dynamic two-way star Travis Hunter.

While much of the focus has been on potential quarterback trades at the top of the draft, Schwartz’s projection suggests Hunter could fall right into New England’s hands—giving the Patriots a game-changing talent on both sides of the ball.
All right, number four, still my beating heart… what are we going to do at defense, what are we going to do at offense?
Geoff Schwartz said
He highlighted that the Patriots could utilize Hunter as a pure cornerback, pairing him with their standout CB, Christian Gonzalez, to create a formidable defensive duo. However, he also noted that they could use him as a potential wide receiver as well.
He’s really good. Like, he’s a—whenever you watch him, go put on his highlights on YouTube, wherever you want to find them. When he catches that football, no one catches him on the football field. It’s like Reggie Bush.
George Schwartz added
The New England Patriots have spent a considerable amount of money in the past few days including shelling out contracts to several big names. The Patriots under a new head coach Mike Vrabel and returning OC Josh McDaniels are looking to take the Pats back to the winning days.
