Colorado Buffaloes regained their lost glory after Deion Sanders took over as the head coach of the football program back in 2023. In two years, he turned the culture around, led the team to a 9-3 finish, and snagged a bowl game for their performance.
It’s hard for such a success to stay away from the spotlight, considering Sanders is an NFL Hall of Famer and two-time Super Bowl champion. Naturally, rumors began to circulate about his future in Colorado.
According to reports, several NFL teams want Deion Sanders to take over their head coaching job in 2025. However, it appears he is committed to Colorado for the long run. Star wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter certainly sounded adamant when asked about it.
There are clear indications that Sanders wants to be back. He signed five-star quarterback recruit Julian Jewel, besides adding a couple of four-stars to strengthen the areas that will be left vacant after seniors graduate.
Insiders also hinted that Coach Prime seems serious about remaining as the coach of Colorado.
Which NFL teams is Deion Sanders being linked with?
Every year, several teams look to appoint a head coach who can shift their fortunes from a poorly coached team to a unit that can go toe to toe with the big boys of the NFL. It’s the same this year as well.
The team that constantly remains the favorite to appoint Sanders is his former team, the Dallas Cowboys, who are 5-8 after their latest loss against the Cincinnati Bengals. Even though owner Jerry Jones remains adamant that Mike McCarthy isn’t going anywhere, Sanders remains a top target for the franchise.
Moreover, teams such as the New York Jets, Chicago Bears, and New Orleans Saints that have fired their coaches are also keeping an eye on Sanders’ situation in Colorado.
The 57-year-old previously stated that he has no intention of coaching in the NFL. However, if a franchise gives him the power to run the team as he sees fit, then perhaps it may entice him to have a change of heart.
