Colorado Buffaloes star Travis Hunter is the most intriguing prospect in the upcoming NFL Draft. On one hand, he wants to play both wide receiver as well as cornerback positions. On the other hand, teams looking to pick him are not sure about letting him play both.
Their logic stems from the logic that playing both against grown men could pose two problems. One is he could get fatigued much earlier than desired. The second is he will be more susceptible to injuries than a player focused on one side of the ball.
Teams do not want to take those risks as they want him to be at his best to help them compete for wins. Fatigue or injuries can limit that goal significantly. But time and again, some analysts and his now former head coach Deion Sanders have advocated to let him play both sides of the ball.
Teams are high on the two-way star, but his constant insistence to play both ways is not sitting well. The 21-year-old sat down with CBS Sports’ Garrett Podell and when asked for a reaction to a possibility of an NFL team not allowing him to play both sides, he doubled down on his previous comments.
It’s never playing football again. Because I’ve been doing it my whole life, and I love being on the football field. I feel like I could dominate on each side of the ball, so I really enjoy doing it.

This stance might be Travis Hunter‘s way of forcing his way to play both ways. He believes doing so will bring the best out of him and he can help the team by dominating both sides. But fans are not happy with this response.
Fans shake their heads at Travis Hunter’s stance
Football fans believe Travis Hunter took it too far by suggesting he will retire from football if he does not get to play both sides. He is not in a position to make demands, considering he is not even drafted yet. If anything, fans believe this will force teams to reconsider their initial interest in him.

If that happens, fans believe the Heisman Trophy winner might have seemingly destroyed his career. Asking for an opportunity is one thing, but making demands to NFL bosses is another. Fans on social media would not be surprised if teams pass on him. Check out examples of those reactions below.
I guess he better start applying for jobs at Home Depot for the summer.

Things you should say after your drafted, not before.

So if he gets hurt you’re down a WR and a CB ? Nobody is taking that risk

Think the kid may find that in the NFL – owners and coaches call the shots not the players

Does bro realize he’s not going to be covering UCF & Colorado State receivers in the league?

I love when young players think they can come in and dictate terms before playing a snap.

Travis Hunter has the makings of a generational talent. However, going the Deion Sanders way of establishing power without proving it on an NFL field might not be the right way. How teams react to this news will define how his draft goes.
Robert Griffin III believes teams should let Hunter play both ways
Hunter’s stance might have enraged fans. But there are some in the media who believe teams should let the star be himself. If that means he needs to play both ways, they should let him. At least that is what former QB Robert Griffin III believes should happen.
Travis Hunter is best when he plays both WR and CB. It’s how he has always played. It’s how he gets into flow state on the football field. If you are an NFL team and you don’t play him at both positions full time, you are making a colossal mistake. He is sensational. Let him be.

This belief stems from the belief that a player can maximize their potential by playing the way he wants. Many a times, athletes have been forced to change their ways, which has not always proven to be beneficial.

Griffin III believes teams will be making a mistake by not letting Hunter shine on both ends. Only then can the Colorado Buffaloes star make a difference to any team. There will be a lot of discussions surrounding these opinions. But NFL teams will reveal how they truly feel on April 24th.
