Travis Kelce possibly did not expect his 13th season in the league to come to a juncture where not only are his Kansas City Chiefs out of the playoffs, but his star quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, is also done for the season.

Even before the signal caller blew the ACL and LCL in his left knee, the franchise was on the verge of missing out on a postseason berth for the first time in a decade.

Now that the 36-year-old knows when his season is going to end, reporters, analysts, and fans wondered if Kelce would call it quits or wait for another season to finish his career with a pass from his close friend.

I’d rather keep the focus of the media and everything on this team, right now. All the conversations I have with the team and everything moving forward will be with them. It’s a unique time in my life. Unfortunately, I’ve got three games left, and I know when the season ends.

Travis Kelce replied

The 10-time Pro Bowler reiterated that his commitment remains intact, and he wants to give his best, as his obligation is to the Kansas City Chiefs.

He did, however, chuckle at the thought of not having Mahomes throw him the football. He knows where those questions are leading, and instead, is probably listening to his older brother, Jason Kelce‘s suggestion to enjoy the remaining games before thinking about his future.

Travis Kelce reiterates his commitment to Chiefs

After this reply, reporters further quizzed Travis Kelce about how he can keep his focus on the final three games knowing he and his teammates will not make it to the postseason.

It’s just integrity. I signed up to be a Kansas City Chief. I love doing what I do. I’ve been dreaming of these moments and playing for an NFL team since I was a kid… That’s just how you need to go about work, whether you’re in the race or not… I’m going to make sure these guys know I’m giving everything I’ve got.

Travis Kelce said as quoted by Charles Goldman

It seems the Ohio alum is not wavering from his commitment to the franchise that drafted him, just because he cannot play in the postseason.

Many still believe that Kelce is still productive enough to be a star tight end on another team. However, how his career has panned out, it will be almost impossible to think of him playing anywhere else.

If anything, the 6′ 5″ tight end would play out this season, and then take his time to analyze and decide how he wants to approach his NFL career.

Travis Kelce sums up disappointing end to Chiefs’ season

Considering this could be the last season Travis Kelce suits up in an NFL jersey, reporters asked the star tight end for his opinion on how the Chiefs’ season ended in their loss to the Chargers.

Disappointing. And then on top of that absolute dagger into the back, knowing how the season ended for 15… It sucks, man.

Travis Kelce said

He again reiterated that he looks forward to the remaining three games, as that is what Chiefs fans and the organization would want them to do.

Kelce mentioned that there was still hope on the last drive of that game, but Gardner Minshew‘s interception ended all hopes of a potential late-season rally.

Now, the franchise has been forced to rethink its strategy heading into next season, and much of it depends on how Patrick Mahomes recovers and what Travis Kelce decides regarding his future.
