Rival fans get excited when football players and coaches get into an argument on the sideline. Usually, it’s a sign of a falling out or disagreement. That’s not the case with Travis Kelce and Andy Reid.
Kelce downplayed any animosity between him and his head coach at the Kansas City Chiefs. Speaking on the latest episode of the New Heights podcast, the All-Pro tight end revealed that he can never hate Reid.
I love that guy, man. There’s nothing outside of this building that’s going to make me feel any different. We know exactly each other’s intentions.
Travis Kelce said
From Kelce’s view, Reid pushes his players to bring out the best in them.
It definitely helped me take my game to another level that game.
Kelce added
Asked Travis Kelce what we should make of the interaction he had with Andy Reid on the sideline last week: "What Andy made of it. I love that guy, man. There's nothing outside of this building that's going to make me feel any different way. We know exactly each other's…

Reid lost his cool with Kelce midway through the New York Giants fixture in week 3. Kelce struggled to create separation and wasn’t on the same page as his quarterback, Patrick Mahomes.
This ticked off Reid so much that he bumped his shoulder against Kelce. Cameras caught the veteran coach shouting at his star player on the sidelines.
The Chiefs ultimately won the tie 22-9, with Kelce catching just 4 passes. After the game, reporters asked Reid to elaborate on the heated incident between him and Kelce.
[Travis is] a passionate guy, and I love that part. I’ve been through a lot of things with him, so that’s all part of it. I love that he loves to play the game. That’s what I love. And it’s an emotional game, so I’ll take it.

Chiefs HC Andy Reid on TE Travis Kelce: "I love Travis' passion, man. We need more of that. . . He knows when to back off the pedal and when to push it, too. . . Sometimes I have to be the policeman."

This wasn’t an isolated incident. Kelce rubbed a lot of fans the wrong way by screaming in Reid’s face during the 2024-25 Super Bowl. The 35-year-old later apologized for his behavior after his older brother rebuked him for crossing the line.

Travis Kelce needs a big game against the Baltimore Ravens
The Chiefs have always started the season strong ever since Mahomes became their starting quarterback. However, they have been navigating through uncharted territory after starting the season 1-2.

A defeat to the Los Angeles Chargers followed a devastating loss in the Super Bowl 59 rematch against the Philadelphia Eagles. The win over the Giants saved them from going 0-3 for the first time since 2011.
On Sunday, they take on another familiar foe, the Baltimore Ravens at Arrowhead Stadium. Kelce needs a big game against their conference opponents. After three games, he stands on 10 catches for 134 yards and 1 touchdown, a mere shadow of his previous self.
A good game against the Ravens might kick-start his and the Chiefs’ season. Kelce has a healthy record in this fixture. In 7 games, he has amassed 47 catches for 585 yards and 3 touchdowns.
The Chiefs and the Ravens have met on 14 different occasions. KC leads the series 9-5 (including playoffs).
