AJ Brown received guidance from Travis Kelce amidst rising tensions in Philadelphia. The Eagles’ star wide receiver is unhappy with the lack of targets he has been getting during gamedays.
After 35 yards in the first two games, Brown bounced back with a 100-yard outing in week three’s win over the Los Angeles Rams. However, just 2 catches for 7 yards in the following week triggered frustration in the 28-year-old.
Brown posted a tweet thought to be directed at his teammates and the coaches. Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, the younger brother of retired Eagles center Jason Kelce, shared his thoughts on the situation. He said on the New Heights podcast:
You’re 4-0, boss. Come on, man…It’s frustrating for AJ right now. Clearly, he’s going to social media to show it. When I show my frustration is when we aren’t rolling as an offense…But it’s also really hard for me to get mad when we’re winning. I don’t find that energy when we’re winning, putting up points, and winning football games,

The Eagles secured their fourth win of the season by defeating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It extended their win record to 20-1, dating back to the last campaign. Brown caught 67 passes for 1079 yards and 7 touchdowns en route to All-Pro nods and a Super Bowl ring.
AJ Brown loves the Eagles
Brown had been quiet up until Wednesday about his cryptic tweet. Speaking with reporters, the Ole Miss graduate revealed that his tweet was exaggerated, as it wasn’t directed towards anyone on the Eagles.

He considers Philly his home, and there’s no animosity between him and his teammates. AJ Brown said via NBC Philadelphia’s John Clark:
This is my home. I did it to myself. I love it here. You see frustration. We want to be great… It’s not a bad thing to get the ball. I’m a guy that [who] gives the ball to me when the game’s on the line. I like that pressure. When the games are on the line, look at me.
“You see frustration. We want to be great. I want to be great as well. I think it’s fair to want the ball and to get the ball. I don’t think it’s bad to want the ball. It’s not just for targets or put numbers up. If I see we are struggling, I’m a guy who wants the ball in those… pic.twitter.com/Mck0T66bzr

Brown wants to receive quality targets during games so that he can make a better overall impact. Former NFL wide receiver Chad Johnson sided with Brown. Johnson highlighted that the satisfaction of winning a game can only be achieved if a player makes a meaningful contribution over the course of four quarters. Johnson said on the Nightcap podcast:
Do you understand what that does to players mentally? I don’t think fans understand. Yes, they won the game. But players want to contribute and help to win those said games… He’s been telling us this for years now; last year he was reading his book. You’re paying me $33M; not only am I the #1 WR, I’m the captain of the team for a reason. Allow me to be part of the offense.
Brown is set to remain a part of the Eagles until the 2027 season, as he signed a three-year $96 million deal in 2024. However, the Eagles may consider trading the Ole Miss graduate after the end of the current campaign.
