Travis Kelce scored his 79th receiving touchdown in the Kansas City Chiefs’ week five defeat to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The All-Pro tight end waited three more weeks to score the 80th.
On Monday, the Chiefs hosted the Washington Commanders at Arrowhead Stadium, days after dismantling the Las Vegas Raiders. Kelce held a decent record against the Commanders. He had over 200 yards, 15 catches, and 1 touchdown in two previous meetings.
That particular touchdown came in 2017, and his second TD arrived eight years later. A little over three minutes before the end of the third quarter, quarterback Patrick Mahomes found his 36-year-old receiver wide open inside the Commanders’ end zone for a 10-yard touchdown.
With that score, Travis Kelce etched his name in NFL immortality. According to NFL research, Kelce joined HOF Antonio Gates, HOF Tony Gonzalez, Rob Gronkowski, and Jimmy Graham as the only tight ends in NFL history with 80+ career receiving TDs.

During the post-game interview with ESPN’s Lisa Salters, Mahomes praised the 36-year-old for being a consummate professional and a leader in the locker room.
That’s the true Chief of Chiefs. He’s the guy that was here before me, set the culture, he’s the guy that’s in the building early. in the building late and he’s the leader of the team. To be able to get record tying… Let’s go out there and break it now.

Taylor Swift celebrated Travis Kelce’s record-breaking touchdown against the Commanders
Kelce postponed his retirement plans ahead of the current campaign and returned to play for a 13th year of professional football. Some say that Kelce’s decision to continue playing football altered his girlfriend Taylor Swift’s desire to perform at Super Bowl 60 at Levi’s Stadium in February 2026.

Swift has since provided a different reason to decline the NFL. However, this hasn’t deterred her from cheering her beau on game days. The 14-time Grammy-winning singer was present to witness Kelce make history on Monday.
The touchdown in the Commanders game not only immortalized him in the tight end hall of fame but also brought him one step closer to becoming the sole touchdown leader in Chiefs history. He is currently tied with legendary running back Priest Holmes on 83 touchdowns.
Kelce had his 80th touchdown catch to go along with two rushing scores and a fumble recovery in the end zone. Moreover, this was Kelce’s 100th career NFL touchdown (regular season + playoffs). ET released a video on Twitter, which contained Taylor Swift‘s jubilant celebration alongside bestie Brittany Mahomes inside the VIP suite.
